Well what can I say only what a competition the open turned out to be this year!!

20 anglers were entered this year with a good mix of local and visiting anglers alike.

With the river dropping off a spate it was in perfect condition for a competition and my goodness it didn't half fish well.

Anglers were met with cold winds and showers throughout the day which did make things a bit tricky for the but by the end of the competition a phenomenal 368 fish had been recorded.

It was great to see Ireland youth team member Jacob Griffin lift the trophy this year, Jacob fished 2 good sessions winning his 1st and taking a 3rd in the second session to secure the win and also youth team member Lewis Porter who finished in 3rd position after recording 17 fish in his afternoon session. Top angling lads!

Some other notable session scores were

Ciaran Reilly 23 fish
Mark Sloan 20 fish
Andrew Sloan 19 fish

Overall results are as follows.

1st Jacob Griffin 4 Points 22 Fish
2nd Mark Sloan 5 Points 34 Fish
3rd Lewis Porter 5 Points 22 Fish
4th Andrew Sloan 6 Points 32 Fish

Longest Fish Philip Mccrabbe 37cm

On behalf of the club I would like to thank everyone who helped out on the day, our sponsors
Ivex Construction and Sean Hudson and finally a big thank you to the anglers who supported the event.

Protect the waters we love. Leave No Trace.

Ulster Angling Federation is reminding all anglers:
• Take your litter home
• Lift any discarded line
• Respect wildlife and farmland
• Leave only footprints

We’re also backing the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme (ANLRS) — turning old mono, braid and fly lines into reusable materials. Several of our clubs have already implemented the scheme. Keep up the fantastic work!

Bag it. Recycle it. Set the standard.

If you have an ANLRS collection point set up, please let us know so we can add it to our website and keep an up‑to‑date list of known locations.
