Another busy month working in Hyde Werneth.

Alongside the day to day casework that comes with being a councillor, July saw me:

✅ Securing School Keep Clear markings on York Road after years of campaigning with residents.

✅ Challenging incorrectly reinstated footpaths and kerbstones following United Utilities works around Grosvenor Road and Foxholes Road.

✅ Raising concerns about increasing crime and anti-social behaviour around Gee Cross and calling for an increased police presence.

✅ Getting out into our community, including a two hour litter pick around the back streets of Hyde which removed four large bags of rubbish.

✅ Supporting local organisations, including 3rd Gee Cross Scouts and Hyde Little Theatre, as well as continuing work on the Gee Cross Summer Festival and launching this year's Gee Cross Scarecrow Festival.

✅ Taking part in my first Liquor Licensing Panel, where an application to extend an off licence's opening hours until 4am was refused.

It's a privilege to represent Hyde Werneth, and I'll continue working hard throughout the year, not just in the run up to an election, to make sure residents' voices are heard.

Here's a look back at July 👇

We can confirm that 538, 659 residents voted in the Greater Manchester Mayoral Election on Thursday 30th July.
That's 25.14% of the electorate.

Burnham is offering no ideas when it comes to supporting businesses to create jobs. We cannot tax our way to prosperity.

Another day. Another consequence of Labour's war on Oil and Gas.

BP exiting the North Sea after 60 years is yet another warning that Labour is turning one of Britain's greatest industries into managed decline.

Last month’s by-election in Aberdeen was a referendum on oil and gas. People voted Conservative because they want to protect the jobs, skills and investment that keep energy bills down and power our economy.

Only the Conservatives have a plan to turn this around, and deliver cheap energy for people across our country. We would immediately approve drilling in the Jackdaw and Rosebank oil fields, end the ban on new drilling licences, scrap the Energy Profits Levy and Get Britain Drilling again.

I watched the press conference today and was incredibly moved by the stories I heard.

Kemi is right for making a stand, supporting the victims and holding the government to account to take action.

Labour cannot claim they will halve violence to women and girls and put through this legislation.

We will stand strong together.
