💬 “We have just spent a wonderful week in Kittiwake Cottage on the beautiful Mull of Galloway. The cottage was extremely comfortable and well equipped and the scenery was exceptional. We were fortunate to have very good weather and the cottages location exceeded all expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the cliffside paths and exploring the local area. The nearby Gaille Craig coffee house is a great amenity for meals and refreshments enjoyed seated on their balcony with spectacular sea views. We found all the staff at the lighthouse extremely helpful and friendly and would recommend climbing to the top of the tower for the fabulous views and informative guided tour. All in all I cannot recommend this cottage too highly."

Stay a little longer at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.

💬”We stayed in the light keeper's cottage at the Mull of Galloway lighthouse in August 2024. It was an amazing holiday - the really special thing about it being the location at a real historic lighthouse, on high cliffs right out on the end of a promontory. The cottage was beautifully set up for four people, and very spacious. The back rooms looked straight out onto the sea. The staff at the lighthouse were super nice and friendly, and they even sounded the foghorn, which was quite an eerie sound. We had very mixed weather including rain, high winds and thick fog, but honestly it was exciting being in a lighthouse in those conditions! The cottage was also dog friendly which was one of the reasons we originally chose it. Totally recommend this place if you like something different and original, and a really stunning location.”

Wow!

The night sky at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse✨
To eyes, it’s one of the best locations in Scotland for night-sky photography.
A while back, I dropped my 14–24mm lens. Although it was jammed into becoming a 14–18mm and looked like it had definitely been in the wars, I convinced myself the optics were still fine.
This image proved otherwise — just look at the stretched stars in the top-right corner.
A £600 repair later, and it’s back to being one of the sharpest wide-angle lenses ever made. Sometimes the camera doesn't lie, even when we want it to. 😅
