Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer, so it’s important to take up your invitation when it arrives.
If you’ve missed your cervical screening, the NHS may invite you to take an HPV self-test instead. If invited, you can order a kit, take your sample at home or somewhere private, and return it free by post.
You can’t opt in to HPV self-testing – if you’re eligible, the NHS will contact you.

If you're eligible for a free flu vaccination you can book your appointment NOW, using the NHS national booking system.
https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-flu-vaccination/

It can take up to 2 weeks for the vaccine to be effective so the sooner you have your vaccine the sooner you'll be protected.

The flu vaccine is available from 1 September for pregnant women, children and young people.

Other individuals, including adults aged 65+, those with long term health conditions and carers will be able to receive their flu vaccine from 1 October.

More information about eligibility can be found on the NHS website: https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/flu-vaccine/

Starting school is a big milestone, and if toilet independence is something you're working on at home, you're not alone.

The good news? There is still time to help your child build confidence using the toilet on their own before September. Toilet independence is about more than using the toilet itself. It can also include recognising when they need to go, managing clothing, wiping and washing their hands.

Small, consistent steps can make a real difference, and every opportunity to practise helps 🚽

Remember, every child develops at their own pace including those with additional needs, may need more time or support

Visit the Best Start for Life website using the link below, or speak to your health visitor for trusted advice and practical tips on toilet training.

Did you know that hot dog sausages and grapes are one of the most common choking hazards for young children? Their size and shape can completely block a child’s airway, and their texture can make them difficult to dislodge.

To reduce the risk, always cut grapes and sausages lengthways into thin strips, and ideally into quarters before serving to young children.

This advice applies to other round foods too. If a food item is small and round, it could become lodged in a child’s airway. When preparing food for little ones, remember: think "long and thin" rather than round and chunky.

For more information on preventing choking and what to do in an emergency, visit the Child Accident Prevention Trust's choking prevention hub: 🔗 https://capt.org.uk/choking-prevention/

School may be just around the corner, but there's still time to practice toilet training with your child. 🚽

Toilet training is more than just using the loo. It's about helping children know when they need to go, ask for help if they need it, manage clothing, wash their hands and build the confidence to take on new routines when they start school 📚

Every child develops at their own pace, and some children, including those with additional needs, may need more time and support than others - toilet training is all about progress, not perfection.

That's why our latest 'Toilet Training Talks' series with and .eyfs is packed with practical advice to help you support your child as they get ready for school, one step at a time 👣 💗
