Standing with the Stourbridge Community ๐Ÿ’š

A week on from the devastating wildfires that affected Stourbridge; Our thoughts remain with everyone who was impacted, displaced or affected by the fires, and we wish everyone well as the community begins to recover.

During the response, our volunteers were proud to support Dudley Council at the rest centres at Stourbridge Town Hall and Oldswinford Hospital School (OSH).

With just 10 minutesโ€™ notice, our volunteers were ready to respond. From 10pm on Thursday until 11pm on Sunday, we provided support around the clock, helping to ensure that those using the rest centres had the support they needed.

๐Ÿ’š 22 different volunteers supported the response
โฑ๏ธ Over 300 volunteer hours were given
๐Ÿ  Support provided across two rest centres
๐ŸŒ™ 24-hour cover throughout the response

We would like to say a huge thank you to every one of our volunteers who dropped everything, gave up their time and stepped forward to help their community.

We are incredibly proud of the way our team responded at such short notice.

Most importantly, our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the fires.

We stand with the Stourbridge community. ๐Ÿ’š

Volunteer first aiders and healthcare professionals from St John Ambulance have been supporting residents affected by recent wildfires in the West Midlands.

Working alongside partner agencies, St John Ambulance volunteers provided first aid, welfare support, and reassurance to residents impacted by the incident. The response included support at two rest centres in the Stourbridge area and a rest centre in Pershore, Worcestershire.

Philip McCahill, Regional On-Call Manager for St John Ambulance, said โ€œOur volunteers are proud to support local communities during this challenging incident. We would like to offer our sincere sympathy to all those affected and thank all those involved in the multi-agency response for their professionalism and commitment.โ€

Hannah Foulkes, Network Lead for Dudley and Sandwell Network, said: โ€œThe response has been very much a network-wide effort, with volunteers stepping up to support affected communities with only 10 minutesโ€™ notice.โ€

Volunteers from across the West Midlands were mobilised as part of the wider multi-agency response, working alongside the emergency services, Dudley Local Authority, British Red Cross, Birmingham and Black Country Integrated Care Board and the REACT disaster and response charity. They remained on hand to assist members of the public affected by evacuations and ongoing disruption.

St John Ambulance will continue to work with partners to support communities affected by the wildfires, helping residents access first aid, welfare support and reassurance when they need it most.
