We are inviting you to join a very special reading group event to celebrate the Centenary of Agnes Owens. We will be reading A Working Mother and there will be the opportunity to meet up with other passionate readers to discuss the book in an informal and relaxed setting. We are very keen that this event is for people who have had no experience of being in a reading group before. The discussion will be at Clydebank Library on Tuesday the 27th of November from 7.00 to 8.00 pm and will be chaired by researcher Laura MacDonald from the Agnes Owens archives.
Agnes Owens was an important, albeit often unfairly overlooked, figure in late 20th-century Scottish literature. She was a working-class writer who came to writing later in life, and she primarily wrote short fiction. She is known for her sharp realism, laconic style and deft use of dialogue. 2026 marks the centenary of her birth.

If you are not already a member of West Dunbartonshire Libraries you will need to join to participate.
