🎉 Our Summer Reading Challenge is officially complete! 📚

We’ve grown as readers, discovered amazing new stories, and shared our love of books along the way. Every page turned was an achievement, and we want to say a huge well done to everyone who took part — what an incredible summer of reading! 🌟📖

Although entry to our prize draw is now closed you can still finish the challenge by finishing that 6th book. Then, pop along to your local library and collect your certificate and tote bag.

Don't miss the last of our live streaming events from this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival - tomorrow evening's final event features the wonderful Maggie O'Farrell.

Beginning on a windswept peninsula on the west of Ireland and charting a journey spanning generations, Land is Maggie O’Farrell’s most ambitious novel to date. Following an Oscar nomination for the poignant screenplay of her novel Hamnet, O’Farrell discusses this epic new tale of colonisation and rebellion inspired by family history. We knew it already, but Land cements O’Farrell’s status as one of our finest writers working today. Chaired by Sam Baker.

Join us at Alexandria Library this Sunday the 30th of August at 6.45 pm for the live streaming of Maggie's talk at Edinburgh Book Festival.

Don't miss the chance to see Douglas Stuart's talk from the Edinburgh International Book Festival this Sunday at Alexandria Library

With his debut novel, Shuggie Bain, Douglas Stuart created a Scottish publishing sensation and seized the 2020 Booker Prize. His hotly anticipated new work, John of John (described by Lauren Groff as ‘a fierce, glorious sting of a novel'), follows art school graduate Cal as he returns home to the Isle of Harris, tripping straight back into the old life he thought he’d burst beyond. Join Stuart for this rare and special event: an insightful exploration of the grip of family and religion, the fragility of community, and the alternating beauty and bleakness of island life. Chaired by poet Jackie Kay.

Join us at Alexandria Library on Sunday the 30th of August with a start time of 1.00 pm for the live screening of Douglas Stuart's event from the Edinburgh Book Festival.
