Meet the Team: Daisy McFegan🌟

A bit about her:

🏉 Favourite sport: Rugby!

🏆 Dream sporting event: Rugby World Cup

👩‍🎓 What’s next: Daisy is heading back to tue University of Stirling for her third year studying Sports Science, with hopes of pursuing a career in physiotherapy!

🦴 Fun fact: Daisy has 4 bits of metal from sporting injuries- two in her knee and two in her ankle! 😮

😂 Favourite part of the summer: Playing dodgeball during the Summer of Sport programme at Wallace Hall - Coach or competitor!? 👀

Meet the Team: Anna Byers & Emilia Forsyth (Young leaders) 🌟

A bit about them:

Both Anna and Emilia started dancing from a very young age at Dumfries School of Dance — Emilia at just 2 years old and Anna at 3 years old!

They both absolutely love to dance, but they also love teaching dance and seeing how happy dance makes you feel. ❤️

FAMILY WALK AT THE CRICHTON 🌿

Looking for something fun to do with the family tomorrow? 🌳

Come along and join us for a Family Walk at The Crichton!

– Tuesday 4th August
- 1pm–3pm
- Crichton Estate – Easterbrook Car Park

It’s a turn-up-and-take-part walk, so there’s no need to book — just turn up and enjoy.

DUMFRIES ATHLETICS CAMP- 29th-31st JULY

A video to round-up a great few days of athletics in Dumfries! Everyone worked extremely hard and had the chance to develop their skills in running, jumping and throwing. Most importantly they also had lots of fun! ✨

Leadership Academy - North West Community Campus 🌟

A brilliant day developing leadership skills, building confidence and inspiring the next generation of sports leaders.

Throughout the day they developed their leadership skills, worked together as a team and took part in a range of practical activities to build confidence and prepare them for future volunteering and coaching opportunities.

MEET THE TEAM 🌟

Finlay Forsyth - Casual Coach

Favourite Sport: Definitely football! Finlay is a Bournemouth fan and also enjoys getting out on the golf course.

🏆 Dream Sporting Event: Watching the FIFA World Cup would be a dream!

🐄 Fun Fact: When he’s not coaching, Finlay works and lives on a beef farm.

🌏 What’s Next? Finlay hopes to pursue PE teaching, but would also love to spend some time travelling — with Australia high on the list!

Finlay has recently joined the Nithsdale Active Schools team and, alongside Daisy, has been leading sessions at Wallace Hall throughout the summer holidays. We’re delighted to have him on the Summer of Sport team!

⚽ Volunteer Spotlight: Robert

Robert McClune volunteers as an after-school football coach, giving young people the chance to stay active, build confidence and enjoy taking part in sport. He sets up training drills, encourages teamwork and creates a supportive space where pupils of all abilities can get involved, improve their fitness and have fun.

Over the years, the club has helped children form new friendships, continue playing football beyond primary school and take part in competitions across the region. Robert says one of the biggest highlights is seeing children who were unsure at first grow in confidence and enjoy being part of a team. He is also proud to see girls’ participation rise year after year, with equal numbers of boys and girls now taking part. 👏

Thank you, Robert, for helping young people stay active, confident and connected. 💙
