🌈Check out this amazing collage in Kirkconnel Library!🌈

The talented pupils from Kelloholm Primary 5 class have helped us create this vibrant and eye-catching summer display for Kirkconnel Library 🌞

This was a collaborative project where each pupil used striking colours to complete a small part of the collage before we put all the pieces together like a giant jigsaw 🧩

In keeping with tradition, we were thrilled to welcome the Queen of the South, the cornet and other principals to the Ewart Library this morning to honour the legacy of George Shirley, our first librarian and the founder of the Guid Nychburris festival.
As Provost Tracey Little said, "George Shirley gave this town a gift" so it was a joy to celebrate our library's historic link with Guid Nychburris and continue George Shirley's mission to keep these traditions alive πŸ’™
An extra special thanks to Malory Nursery and Little Gems nursery for coming along in this terrible weather to celebrate by singing some songs and making some bunting to get the library ready for the big day tomorrow!

Join us for a fantastic afternoon of stories, inspiration, and conversation at Castle Douglas Library on Wednesday 24 June, 2–4pmβ€”as part of National Crime Reading Month!

This special double bill event features two fantastic local authors, Mark Carr and May Rinaldi in one session, each sharing insights into their work, creative journeys, and the stories behind their books. Expect gripping tales, fascinating discussion, and a celebration of all things crime writing.

πŸ“šβœ¨ A wonderful visit to Lochthorn Library! βœ¨πŸ“š

On Friday 12th June, Lochthorn Library hosted a very special visit from local author Jim Cameron, who read his lovely book Finn and Freya to children from Locharbriggs Nursery 😊

The children were captivated by the story and had a great time bringing the characters to life by colouring in pictures of Finn and Freya to take home πŸŽ¨πŸ“–
It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and creativity, and a real joy to help inspire a love of reading from such a young age πŸ’›

A big thank you to Jim Cameron and everyone involved for making it such a memorable morning!

We had loads of fun today at Bookbug in Castle Douglas Library!
We sang lots of songs, and did really good at the actions.
We read the Peter Rabbit book Football Fever, which the children were glued to.
After that we played with the Lycra, which is always popular and finished off singing songs with the Puppets.
The children were in great voice singing a lullaby for Bookbug and helped tuck him into bed at the end.
