TS Douglas RNP 2026

Last week our unit held its Royal Naval Parade: a formal inspection of the unit, cadets and adult volunteers by Northern Area Officer Commander Gary Farmer RN. We also had the pleasure of hosting The Lord Lieutenant for Dumfriesshire Dr Fiona Armstrong.

Our cadets stood tall and their enthusiasm truly shone through! It was an evening filled with pride as we showcased their hard-earned achievements and dedication throughout the year.๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ… Awards and Honors: Several of our outstanding cadets were recognised and celebrated for their exceptional contributions and achievements.

We'd like to extend our thanks to all the instructors, volunteers, parents, and supporters lwho have been instrumental in our cadets' success. Your dedication makes a world of difference! ๐Ÿ™

Our Commanding Officer, Sub Lieutenant Kayleigh Witts, is lacing up her running shoes to take on 13.1 miles in the Great Scottish Run on Sunday, 4th October!

Kayleighโ€™s journey with Dumfries Sea Cadets started nearly 12 years ago when she first walked through our doors as a 13-year-old cadet. Having stepped up as a staff member at 18, and taking over as Commanding Officer in February 2025, she has experienced firsthand how the unit builds confidence, teamwork, and leadership in young people across our local community.

Now, sheโ€™s tackling her first ever half marathon to raise the essential funds needed to help enhance our unitโ€™s resources and unlock exciting training opportunities for our current cadets. Every single penny raised goes towards supporting our young people.

Letโ€™s show S/Lt Witts some support as she trains through these final 7 weeks! โš“๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

As June came to a close our cadets and volunteers have had an incredibly busy, rewarding, and action-packed month out and about in our amazing community.
Here is a look back at what we got up to this June:

* ๐Ÿš— The Dumfries Vintage Rally: We were out in full force helping with car parking duties and collecting donations. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and supported us!

* ๐Ÿ† Guid Nychburris Parade: A massive highlight of our month! Not only did we love taking part in the parade, but we are absolutely thrilled to share that we won the 1st Place Award for the best attendees in our category! ๐Ÿฅ‡

* ๐Ÿซก Armed Forces Day Parade: We proudly marched through Dumfries town centre to honor and show our support for our Armed Forces community.

* โ›ช๏ธ Armed Forces Day Church Service: Cadets also attended the dedicated church service to pay our respects and reflect on the sacrifices of our service men and women.

* ๐ŸŽถ Youth Beatz: To wrap up an amazing month, we headed along to Youth Beatz for a brilliant time connecting with other young people and enjoying the festival atmosphere!

We are incredibly proud of all our cadets for their hard work, flawless turnout, and dedication this month. You have represented Dumfries and Dalbeattie Sea Cadets well!

Also a massive thank you to all the parents and supporters for their continued support.

Last weekend the cadets volunteered at the Vintage Rally in Dumfries.

The cadets helped the vintage machinery club members park visitors cars, gather donations and greeted the public as they entered the event.

The cadets even got some time to walk around the showfield and were very impressed by the vehicles on show.

Massive well done to the cadets that attended, and thank you the vintage machinery club for having us back this year!
