Dunbar Coastguard responded to a request for assistance this afternoon near Fast Castle, north of Coldingham Bay. Land, sea and air assets were tasked to bring sea kayakers who had been swept towards the rocky coast to safety. The photo shows the Coastguard helicopter and RNLI lifeboat from the position of the Coastguard rope rescue teams. With stormy weather expected this Easter weekend, if you see anyone in trouble at sea or on the coast call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Dunbar Coastguard Fisherrow Coastguard North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team and RNLI North Berwick Lifeboat responded to a serious incident near Gullane Point this afternoon. We thank walkers and golfers for giving us the space to work. All units are now off site. If you need help along our coast or see someone in need of help call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Dunbar Coastguard along with Eyemouth Coastguard and North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked last night alongside RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats to support Police Scotland East Lothian to search for an individual near Torness following a crash on the A1. The individual was found. Please contact the police if you have any information related to the crash.

Earlier this week Dunbar Coastguard along with Eyemouth Coastguard and numerous other services responded to an incident at Eyemouth Harbour. A person was safely recovered from the slipway and treated for an ankle injury.

The team were also called out to assist North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team deal with the controlled explosion of suspected ordnance near Yellowcraig. Such findings aren’t unusual on our beaches and the member of the public finding it did exactly the right thing calling it in.

If you or anyone else find themselves in danger at the beach, in the sea or along our coast, or you come across a potential explosive device on the beach, call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Dunbar Coastguard responded to an incident at 2230 last night at Eye Cave near the Leisure Pool. North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team, Eyemouth Coastguard, RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats, Police Scotland East Lothian, Dunbar Fire and Rescue. and Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance to treat and recover a casualty who had fallen on the rocks and sustained injuries. If you come across somebody in need of help along our coastline, call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Dunbar Coastguard responded to an incident yesterday at Seacliff Harbour where a dog and two people entered the water and required assistance. North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team, RNLI North Berwick Lifeboat and RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats were also in attendance. The animal was recovered to shore using an emergency dog rescue sling. When animals get into trouble in or near the water, it is often people trying to recover them that get into difficulty. It is always advised to call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD who can provide advice and support.

Dunbar Coastguard Rescue Team deployed to Gullane Beach last night to locate and extract three people who had become disorientated in the dark in dense vegetation near the shore. Alongside North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team and Fisherrow Coastguard they were quickly found and helped to safety by land whilst RNLI North Berwick Lifeboat and Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat were on location in support in case a sea extraction was required. If you get into difficulties along our shoreline, don’t hesitate to call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Dunbar Coastguard were called out three times in the past 24 hours to respond to incidents along our coastline.

We responded to a request to locate a broken down vessel just outside Dunbar Harbour which was recovered by RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats.

We were also called to a capsized kayak near Pease Bay where we recovered a kayaker from rocks onto the beach with support from Eyemouth Coastguard.

We then aided a person in the water at East Beach back onto shore with support from North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team.

Everybody is well and we would like to thank those members of the public who called us when needed, and provided support to our team.

A reminder that if ever in doubt as to whether someone needs our help or not, always err on the side of caution and call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Yesterday afternoon Dunbar Coastguard alongside North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team, Fisherrow Coastguard and Scottish Ambulance Service provided assistance to an injured person in the vicinity of North Berwick Harbour. The Coastguard Rescue Officers helped recover the individual to an ambulance for further treatment. If you come across an incident in our coastal areas please call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

There is currently an Amber weather warning in place covering Dunbar due to Storm Floris. This is currently in place until 2300 although there is still expected to be strong winds tomorrow. Be careful out there! If you do see anyone in trouble near the coast call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.

Dunbar Coastguard and RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats were tasked this afternoon to assist a broken down vessel return to Dunbar Harbour. The RNLI IRB was able to tow the vessel into harbour despite the wind and waves picking up. If you get into difficulties at sea, or see anyone in difficulty, do not hesitate to call 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.
