🐴🚋❤️ Before Dundee’s electric trams, there were horses!

Dundee Museum of Transport is home to a remarkable survivor from the earliest days of the city’s tram network — Horse Drawn Tram No. 24.

Introduced into service in 1897, the tram originally operated from Dundee’s main Post Office to Windsor Street, with its route later extended to the West End Cemetery along Perth Road.

It remained in service until 1900 as Dundee’s transport network continued to evolve towards the electric tramways that would eventually become such a familiar part of the city.

You can discover its story as part of Oor Trams: Dundee’s Tram Era Remembered, with only a few weeks remaining before the exhibition closes on 31 October.

This exhibition is kindly supported by the Dundee Historic Environment Trust.
