Merchant Navy Day | 3 September

On 3 September, we remember and honour the men and women of the Merchant Navy, past and present.

Their courage, dedication and sacrifice have played a vital role in keeping our nation supplied and connected, often in the face of great danger.

We remember those who never returned home, and give our thanks to all who have served and continue to serve at sea.

Lest we forget.πŸ’™

A great day at Montrose Air Station Museum!

Yesterday, SSAFA Dundee & Angus was pleased to be part of a special event at Montrose Air Station Museum.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet visitors, have some great conversations and share more about the support SSAFA provides to serving personnel, veterans and their families.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, and to the team at Montrose Air Station Museum for making us feel so welcome. We’re always delighted to be part of events that bring the Armed Forces community and the wider community together. πŸ’™

What better way to celebrate turning 60 than walking 20 miles for SSAFA?

On Sunday 16 August, Nick took on the full Dundee Kiltwalk on his 60th birthday, raising vital funds for SSAFA along the way.

And what a birthday it was! After completing the 20-mile walk from St Andrews to Dundee, Nick was treated to a very special rendition of Happy Birthday, with SSAFA even getting a mention on the radio! πŸŽ‚

Nick was one of around 4,900 walkers who took to the streets and pathways, helping raise vital funds for 570 Scottish charities.

A huge thank you, Nick, for spending your 60th birthday doing something so special for our Armed Forces community. What an achievement! πŸ’™

A little bit of courage, a lot of fun, and a brilliant reason to take the leap! πŸ’™

On Friday, Nick and Lily took on the SSAFA Scotland Zip Slide to help raise vital funds for SSAFA.

Here’s Lily on her way with Nick following close behind!

A huge thank you to both of them for taking on the challenge and supporting our Armed Forces community. Every bit of fundraising helps us continue to be there for serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Well done, Nick and Lily! πŸ‘

A special thank you to Richard, Brenda and the wonderful team at the Ram's Heid for hosting us, and to everyone who continues to support our Breakfast Club.

Supporting our veterans is at the heart of everything we do.

SSAFA Dundee & Angus representative Kevin Brunton was pleased to present an electric bike at Rosendale Veterans' Residence, where it was received by Graeme Watson, Manager.

We hope this makes a positive difference for the veterans at Rosendale, and we're proud to continue supporting the Armed Forces community in practical ways.πŸ’™

A look back at the 50th Scottish Transport Extravaganza at Glamis Castle, where we had the pleasure of meeting so many visitors over the weekend.

Congratulations to Sandy Brockie, winner of our SSAFA Whisky Trail! Sandy was exhibiting both a tractor and a Morris Minor at the event, and we hope he enjoys his prize.

Congratulations also to Grant Davidson from Aberdeen, whose M58 Command Car was awarded the SSAFA Best Military Vehicle 2026. A well-deserved recognition for a fantastic vehicle.

Thank you to everyone who visited the SSAFA Dundee & Angus stand, took part in the Whisky Trail, and helped make the weekend such a success. We look forward to seeing you again at future events!πŸ’™
