Reading means something different to all of us – but the joy of discovering something you love is worth celebrating. 📖

We’re proud to hear the stories of people who have found inspiration, connection and enjoyment through reading and their local library.

This Wee Read, make time for something that brings you joy. 📚

📢 Make your pledge to read on 7 October here www.WeeRead.scot

Another song from the Dundee Gaelic Choir who visited us in Central Library today.

See our last post for more information and to enjoy another song.

We were honoured by a performance of songs by the Dundee Gaelic Choir this morning in Central Library.

We currently have a display of the history of this award-winning choir who were formed in 1899 and the first ever winners of the prestigious Lovat & Tullibardne Shield in 1903, in the library foyer.

Next Saturday (10th October) at 2pm, you can listen to the choir in St Peter's Free Church (just off the Perth Road). £8 for adults and Under 16s are free.

They are also competing in this year's Royal National Mod in Glasgow.

Whether it’s five minutes or five chapters, a novel or a newspaper, every read counts.

Give Like Dolly Day is here!

Today, we're asking people across Dundee to support the first-ever Give Like Dolly Day, a global day of giving celebrating Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

The programme provides free books every month to children from birth to age five, helping to build literacy skills, spark imagination and create a lifelong love of reading.

By supporting the programme, you're helping put more books into the hands of local children and giving families the opportunity to share the magic of reading together. To find out more, visit: http://www.leisureandculturedundee.com/news/dundee-joins-global-give-dolly-day-support-childrens-reading
