The Andrew Carnegie Statue was unveiled in Pittencrieff Park in 1914. An estimated crowd of 20,000 people assembled to watch Provost Husband's wife reveal the statue, the work of sculptor Richard R Goulden. The bronze statue stands 9.5 ft high on a marble base and was erected "In recognition of his many princely gifts to his native city".

This image was captured in 1953 after the introduction of the flood lighting scheme.

Today's the day! The sun is shining and we are so excited because today marks the launch of our first ever Fife Reading Challenge.

From today until the 31st of August people of all ages in Fife can visit their local library and sign up for one of our reading challenges!

All you need is a library card- if you don't already have one you can sign up in branch or by using our online form https://www.onfife.com/libraries-archives/join-library/

We can't wait to welcome you into our libraries and start off an amazing summer of reading in Fife!
