Deepest Sympathy
On behalf of all the staff and pupils at St. Mary’s, we would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to our much-loved traditional music teacher, Donald Canavan, on the very sad passing of his beloved wife, Marian. We also extend our deepest condolences to their son Tiarnan and daughter Deirbhile, who shared her talents with our school community this year teaching Irish to our classes. We keep Donald, Tiarnan, Deirbhile and the entire family circle in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam. 💙

🌟 Save the Date! 🌟
I would like to invite all our parents and children to a special morning on Wednesday 27th August 2025 at 11.15am in the Glenavon Hotel, Cookstown.
This will be a fantastic opportunity to work together on developing our new school mission statement and values. It’s so important that everyone has a voice in shaping the future of our school, and we would love to see as many families as possible join us.
☕ Tea/coffee and scones will be served on arrival, and there will be juice and biscuits for the children. 🕒 The morning should last approximately 1.5 hours.I'll send out another message closer to the time to ask for confirmation of numbers for catering.
In the meantime, I hope everyone is starting to wind down and enjoy the holidays! ☀️

🏆🔴⚪ Congratulations to the Tyrone Minors — All-Ireland Champions! 🔴⚪🏆
What a fantastic day for Tyrone football as the Minor team bring home the All-Ireland title after a brilliant win over Kerry! We are especially proud of the strong Stewartstown representation, with our two past pupils Michael Hughes and Rian Biggs togging out in our county colours. A huge well done also to Gerard Donnelly and Gareth Devlin on the management team — a real local success story! Mrs Devlin would also like to give a special shout-out to the players from her home club, Fr Rocks, and to her former pupil from St Mary’s Dunamore — it’s been a day to remember for so many local clubs and communities across Tyrone. Today is a truly proud day for all Tyrone supporters. We hope the boys enjoy every moment of the celebrations — you’ve made us all so proud! Tír Eoghain abú! 🔴⚪🍾🎉

Come on Tyrone
It’s All-Ireland Final day and all of us at St. Mary’s Primary School Stewartstown would like to wish our two past pupils, Michael Hughes and Rian Biggs, along with Tyrone management Gerard Donnelly and Gareth (Manies) Devlin and the entire Tyrone Minor team every success as they take on Kerry today in Newbridge. We are so proud to see Michael and Rian representing their county at the highest level — a true inspiration to all our current pupils. 📺 Tune into TG4 to watch live if you can’t make it! Cafe Connect
Primary 3/4 had a fabulous start to their last full day of the school year. All had a wonderful breakfast at our local Cafe Connect. Thanks to Joy and all the staff who provided the children with the best food and service including treats and goodie bags. Super morning had by all.

🎄 Save the Date – PTA Christmas Fundraising Event! 🎄
We’re excited to announce that the PTA will be hosting a Christmas Fundraising Event this November 30th – more details coming soon, but for now, please save the date! 🎅✨ This year’s event will be part of our ICT drive to raise funds for new desktop computers in the school. Our goal is to ensure each class has a 1:2 device ratio for ICT lessons, giving every child greater access to digital learning opportunities. A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for all of their hard work and commitment throughout the year – your efforts make such a difference to our children’s school experience! 💙 Our next PTA meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd September, and new members are always welcome! You don’t have to join the committee to get involved – even offering to help out at one or two events during the year makes a big difference. 🙌 If you’re interested in helping out or want to learn more about what the PTA does, just drop us a message or come along to the meeting in September. Let’s keep working together to make St. Mary’s the best it can be! 💫 🎄💻
