📣SEN ADVICE SEMINAR FOR PARENTS 📣
Next Wednesday, 27th May at 8pm via Zoom, we will host a seminar for parents of children with Special Educational Needs, chaired by Emmet Doyle.

Two speakers will address the event and take questions:

Gemma Brolly;
A teacher, parent and SENCO in a County Derry school, working on the ground to assist in support applications, appeals and teacher advocacy. Gemma will speak about the current situation with regard to funding, support and practical help.

Nicholas Quinn;
Nicholas is a Solicitor with over 20 years experience working in the legal profession. He has a particular specialism in, and passion for, children’s rights law. He has represented clients before Tribunals; County Courts; the High Court; Court of Appeal and the UK Supreme Court.

He will speak about the process for appeals, the Tribunal and how to get the support you need for your child or children.

In response to Peadar Tóibín's question, An Taoiseach stated that there should be an apology from the British government in relation to the Springhill Massacre.

5 people; 3 children, a father and a priest were killed by the British Army.

📣 TRANSPARENCY & HARD WORK ETHIC
Most political party leaders/deputy leaders have flooded your media this week with videos at Balmoral Show, which is grand (as we say round here.)
❗HARD TRUTH ALERT While I would love to have made it, I teach during those week days. My husband & son made it today, in their element...however that meant staying home to get my children to where they needed to be & look after them.
Farming is life for us. We'd love it to be 'a living' but it's not. Which is why I continue in the sometimes 'putrid' world of politics, just trying to bring much needed change & improvement😬
In the midst of it all, I assisted on 15 different cases this week (majorly housing & SEN) & continue to work for what I believe people deserve.🙌🏻

❗Delighted to report much needed roadworks are being carried out on the Legavallon Road.❗
Unfortunately that means the road is closed for now for a short distance approaching the Grey Gables.
Diversions are in place.

Yesterday myself and a few Aontú colleagues attended Laganside Courts and observed the day's proceedings from the public gallery, in Noah Donohoe's inquest.

This centred around access to the drain or 'culvert' where Noah was found. Throughout the whole day's proceedings, I cannot recall Noah's name being mentioned once. That pained me greatly.

All the 'details' being 'reported' and yet the larger context of this strikes me greatly. In a long list of questions about 'mistakes' and questionable occurrences-from 'missing' to 'reappearing' footage to elements never investigated, one question keeps circling in my mind.

If the answers are so straightforward, with explanations of technicalities, etc...
WHY THE PII????

Do not forget it took over 5 years of fight to get here. Do not forget the WHOLE context.

Noah may not have been mentioned yesterday, but his name is in the mind, on the lips and in the heart of Noah's Army, who stand shoulder to shoulder with Fiona, in complete awe and admiration of her dignity and strength as her son, her darling Noah carries her through this.
