EVERY SECOND COUNTS:

A Polite Reminder

We love being part of the Dunmow community, but we need your help to keep everyone safe.

Twice this week, our crews have been delayed responding to emergency calls because cars were using the fire station driveway as a drop-off point or a turning point.

When the bells go down, our firefighters need to get to the station and our appliances need to get out of the doors immediately. Even a 30-second delay caused by a blocked driveway can make a life-changing difference at the scene of an incident.

How you can help:

Keep Clear: Please do not pull into, park in, or block the station driveway at any time.

Find Another Spot: If you need to drop someone off or turn around, please use a safer location further down the road.

Stay Alert: Always be mindful of emergency lights and sirens in the area.

We know it’s a convenient spot, but please remember: Our driveway is a literal lifeline. Thank you for supporting your local fire station and helping us get to those in need as quickly as possible.

Stay safe, Dunmow! 🚒💨

It was a non-stop day for our firefighters yesterday as we responded to a wide range of incidents across the area. From early morning calls to late-night shouts, the team was kept on their toes.

Here is a quick rundown of the day's call-outs:

2 Automatic Fire Alarms: Both were investigated and confirmed as false alarms.

Car Fire: Crews attended a vehicle fire, successfully extinguishing the blaze before it could spread to nearby property.

House Fire: A more serious incident that required a rapid response. Thankfully, everyone was safely accounted for, and the fire was contained.

RTC (Road Traffic Collision): We assisted our partners in the ambulance and police services at the scene of a collision to ensure the area was safe and occupants were cared for.

A massive thank you to the local community for your patience while we were out on the roads.

Stay safe, Dunmow! 🔥🏠🚗

💡 Safety Reminder: With the busy spell continuing, please make sure your smoke alarms are tested and working. It only takes a second and saves lives!

Earlier today both our appliances were mobilised to an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) activation within the Dunmow area. 🚒🚒

Both of our appliances attended to investigate and ensure there was no risk to the public. Thankfully, on this occasion, there was no fire, and the alarm was confirmed as a false activation.

We always respond to every call promptly and treat each incident as genuine until we can confirm otherwise. Your safety is our priority at all times.

🚨If you're a business owner, please remember to regularly maintain and test your fire alarm systems. If you're a homeowner can you also remember to test and clean your smoke alarms once a month.🚨

🚨 Public Safety Notice – Frozen Ponds & Lakes 🚨

With the freezing temperatures upon us, many of our local ponds and lakes may look frozen and safe. However, appearances can be deceiving. No ice is ever 100% safe. A fall through the ice can lead to cold water shock, rapid exhaustion, and life-threatening hypothermia in just minutes.

We strongly urge:
• Parents to speak with children about the importance of staying away frozen bodies of water.
• Residents to avoid walking, skating, sledding, or riding on/around the ice.
• Everyone to keep your pets on a lead/under control around the water

If you see someone fall through the ice, DO NOT attempt to go into the water and rescue them yourself. Call 999 immediately and try to assist from a safe distance using a rope, pole, or nearby life ring.

Your safety and the safety of our responders depends on smart winter choices. Please help us spread the word and keep our community safe this season.
