What a fantastic weekend at TRUCKFEST 2026! πŸš›

From gritters and snowblowers to refuse and food waste collection vehicles, our stand attracted plenty of interest from families and truck enthusiasts alike.

A special highlight was a visit from Gladiators stars Diamond and Electro, who stopped by to meet staff and explore our fleet.

Congratulations to our truck pulling team for retaining their title and securing a place in the national final! Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and helped make the event such a success. πŸ‘

Towns and cities across the UK are changing. The strategic place plan is about giving you the opportunity to shape what that change looks like in your towns in County Durham.

We worked with our partner Urban Foresight to find out your views and ideas about how you would like to see Consett and Peterlee develop over the next 10 years.

We asked for your views to help shape the future of your own town. Following those rounds of consultation we have developed a vision for both towns and we want your views on the visions before we start to draw up plans on how we are going to achieve them.

You can tell us your view on the vision for Consett here: https://letstalkcountydurham.co.uk/en-GB/projects/consett-strategic-place-plan

Or the vision for Peterlee here: https://letstalkcountydurham.co.uk/en-GB/projects/peterlee-strategic-place-plan

This third and final stage of consultation will be open until the 19 June 2026.

πŸ‘‹ Meet Florence the PAT dog and her owner Bridget. They bring plenty of joy, comfort and companionship to the service users (and staff) at Hawthorn House.

Since visiting Hawthorn House in 2019, Florence and Bridget have truly become part of the family🐾

βš½β™»Did you know that you can now drop off all unwanted football boots at any of our household waste recycling centres?

We've teamed up with Re:Play Football to give football boots a new life and get them on the pitch again!

There's a drop off bin at every recycling centre and it doesn't matter what state the boots are in. The boots undergo a deep hygiene treatment and refurbishment to ensure they meet performance standards and look great on the pitch. They are then graded and listed on the Re:Play website making football more sustainable and accessible for everyone.
