A busy Sunday for some TWSMRT team members!

The day started with a meet and greet and some fundraising at Fox's Farm open day 🚜 Thank you for the invite!

On returning to our Durham base following the event, just having reversed the vehicle back into the garage, the team were called out to Hamsterley Forest - Forestry England to help treat and extract a mountain biker suffering multiple injuries πŸ€•

Working swiftly alongside the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust πŸš‘ and Great North Air Ambulance Service 🚁 , the casualty was transported to the helicopter and airlifted to hospital. We wish them a full and speedy recovery.

With the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust πŸš‘ and Great North Air Ambulance Service 🚁 also attending, most of our team members were stood down on route. Several local team members made it to the incident and assisted with medical interventions and incident site management.

Second water training session of last week, this time at Low Force in Teesdale yesterday. Team members practiced defensive and aggressive swimming for self rescue, as well as throw lines, group wading techniques and a mini exercise.

Always a great day out but highlights how dangerous water can be without the right knowledge, skills and equipment. Stay safe this summer and follow the Water Safety Code:

A mix of in water and bankside searches were carried out to find exercise casualties and, once found, casualties were treated and extracted ⛑️
