From 7am on Monday 15 June until 7am Friday 19 June there is a period of planned industrial action by Resident Doctors (formerly known as Junior Doctors) who are members of the British Medical Association (BMA).

During this time our senior doctors, nurses and other clinical staff will be ensuring we continue to provide urgent and emergency treatment, including time critical surgery. Our minor injuries unit at QVH will also be open as usual from 8am to 8pm - more information available here https://www.qvh.nhs.uk/our-services/minor-injuries-unit/

Patient care remains our priority. We will only reschedule appointments and procedures where necessary and will re-book immediately, where possible. If you are due to come to an appointment please continue as planned unless we have contacted you.

The NHS is asking patients to choose services wisely during the industrial action and take simple steps to help ensure care is available to patients who need it most. This includes using 111 online as the first port of call for health needs and continuing to only use 999 if it is a life-threatening emergency.

We will be carrying out an essential upgrade to our telephone system on Wednesday 3 June, between 8pm and midnight. ☎️

During this planned work, our hospital’s main telephone system will be temporarily unavailable. Our main switchboard number (01342 414000) will be diverted to an alternative handset so that urgent calls can still be received. While the main system is down, we will not be able to transfer calls internally.

To ensure we continue to provide safe patient care, our clinical teams will have access to emergency mobile phones.

Patients who are staying with us during the evening will be informed in advance, and staff will be available as usual to support care and answer any questions.

We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary disruption may cause and thank you for your understanding while we carry out this important work to improve our systems.
