What a gorgeous evening we had in the company of Rob White and his beloved Hardy's Far From The Madding Crowd. It is one of my favourite novels and it was so lovely to hear Rob read some of its most beautiful poetic passages. As a few of us pointed out, being read to is such a treat no matter how old you are. Rob always takes a very personal approach to his talks and it was a delight to hear him share his connections with the locations and even the filming of the iconic sword scene in the 1967 version. A huge thank you to Rob and to everyone who came along and engaged in such a wonderful manner.🥰

Dotty Sutton is the illustrator of Scarlet Defender of the Universe - one of the amazing books nominated in our Longer Book category 🦸‍♀️

She's an Edinburgh-based illustrator and model maker. The dictionary definition of ‘dotty’ is ‘eccentric or slightly mad’, which is a description she is rather flattered by! 🤩

He wrote it to try and impress his son Edgar, who was 8 years old at the time. Edgar was really impressed for almost a whole week! 😂

We normally set the table up for around 10:30. It is free play, but we do ask that adults be around to make sure their children are okay with the Lego pieces!

We love taking pictures of your Lego creations, so if you want anything photographed feel free to ask and we will put it on our page!

To celebrate Inspire 10th birthday we thought it might be fun to start a discussion about book reading 🤓❤📖

These Book Chat cards are what we use with some of our reading groups and for other events. So we have picked a card at random and the question is.....

" Do you prefer reading one book at a time or multiple books? "

We got some varied responses here. Some like focusing on one book in one format, some mixed and matched their books and formats. For me I normally have numerous books on the go all at once 😂
