Further to the joint statement issued earlier today https://futurenotts.org.uk/news-and-updates/2026/statement-local-government-reorganisation-nottingham-and-nottinghamshire, we welcome the announcement by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to pause the Local Government Reorganisation to ensure the process is legally watertight. This creates an opportunity to ensure any changes have the full support of all our Bassetlaw communities and residents, where not only are their voices properly heard, but any proposals must provide financial viability to a new local authority and ensures fair representation through wards that fairly reflect local communities and equal population for them all.

Councils across the country have been advised by central government that it will be undertaking a review of the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) programme nationally.

🇬🇧 Veterans from across Nottinghamshire are being invited to join us for a special coach trip to Imperial War Museum North in Manchester on Sunday 18 October 2026.

The trip is completely free of charge, including travel and entry to the museum, and is a great opportunity for veterans to explore it, reflect on the experiences of those who have served and enjoy a day out with other members of Nottinghamshire’s Armed Forces community.

🚌 Coach 1 – Mansfield
9.30am departure from Mansfield Civic Centre, NG17 1AU
Arrive at IWM North at approximately 11.15am

🚌 Coach 2 – Newark & Worksop
9.30am – Newark Castle House, NG24 1BY
10am – Worksop Library, S80 2BP
Arrive at IWM North at approximately 11.30am

🚌 Coach 3 – County Hall
9.30am departure from County Hall, NG2 7QP
Arrive at IWM North at approximately 11.30am

All coaches will leave IWM North at 4.30pm.

Places are limited, so veterans wishing to attend are encouraged to reserve their place as soon as possible.

🌹 Out and about in Harworth this evening
This evening we’ve been out and about in Harworth, chatting to residents on Rutland Crescent.

We had lots of really positive conversations, listening to residents and hearing their views about the things that matter to them and their community.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to stop and have a chat with us. Listening to residents and being out in our communities is an important part of what we do.

We’ll keep getting out and about, listening and working for the people of Harworth & Bircotes.

Hot, dry weather can turn a small spark into a fast spreading fire 🔥

Recently, our Parks Team had to extinguish a barbeque in one of our parks. We would like to remind everyone that that barbeques are not permitted in Bassetlaw’s public parks and open spaces.

If you smoke, please make sure ci******es are fully out and disposed of safely as these can contribute to the risk of fire spreading.

📞 If you spot a fire, move to a safe location and call 999 immediately. Don't assume someone else has reported it.
