We have had a few returns for the Belle Tout Lighthouse Open Day on Tuesday - grab them fast as they'll be snapped up!

On Tuesday 20th Oct, Belle Tout Lighthouse opens its doors to the public, ticket holders only. Tickets are free of charge. Please note, over 16 years and no dogs permitted inside the lighthouse. We have lots of steep steps and no lift.

Belle Tout Lighthouse

✨ On this day ✨ 192 years ago…..

The Belle Tout Lighthouse officially began operating on 11th October 1834, with two lighthouse keepers maintaining the beacon around the clock.

Plate from 'Illustrated London News', (Vol 84/1, p 9). 'The lighthouse was built on Belle Tout Cliff between 1828 and 1831. Illumination was by a battery of Argand lamps, each backed by a parabolic mirror of copper plated with silver, the whole rotating once every two minutes. The lighthouse was subject to blanketing by fog and was replaced in 1902 by the present one at the foot of the cliff.' (Photo by SSPL/Getty Images)
