HOT WEATHER ALERT 🌞πŸ”₯

UKHSA has issued an Amber response alert from 12pm today until 8pm on Tuesday 23 June.

Whilst we hope everyone can enjoy the sunshine, we are also advising people to take sensible precautions to keep safe and well. Here are some top tips to keep safe and look after yourself and others in the hot weather:

πŸ’§ Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water - did you know you can find your nearest water refill station via the Refill Return app?
πŸ‘• Wear appropriate clothing to help you stay cool
β˜€οΈ Try to stay out of the sun between 11am-3pm
🧴 Apply sun cream and wear a hat if you go outside
πŸͺŸ Stay cool indoors by opening windows when the air feels cooler outside than it is inside
🏠Close blinds and curtains on windows that are exposed to direct sunlight during the day

Please also consider family, friends or neighbours that might be vulnerable to the effects of hot weather and consider any support they might need to keep cool and well over the coming days.

πŸš’ Booking is now open for our Hightown firefighter recruitment event! πŸš’

We’re running a female-focused event aimed at encouraging more women to consider a career as a firefighter. At this event, you’ll have the opportunity to speak to serving female firefighters about their experiences, and fitness advisors will be on hand to offer targeted fitness advice.

You’ll also receive an overview of the recruitment process, take a tour of the fire station, meet current operational staff, and have the chance to try out parts of the practical assessments.

Do you have the courage and compassion to take on a role like no other?

πŸ“ Saturday 27th June at Hightown Fire Station

Booking is essential – spaces fill up fast!
