YEAR 10 TASTER DAY AT PETER SYMONDS

Our Year 10 students are having a fantastic time exploring campus life at the Peter Symonds College Taster Day today! It is wonderful to see them diving into new subjects and getting a real taste of their future possibilities.

We are being incredibly well looked after by the team here, with everyone making sure to stay cool and keep hydrated in this lovely summer heat.

A huge thank you to Peter Symonds College for having us today and for hosting such an inspiring event for our students!

WOMEN’S T20 WORLD CUP FLAG BEARERS TRIP

Huge congratulations to our Year 10 students, who acted as fantastic flag bearers for Ireland at Friday’s Women’s T20 World Cup Match.

Arriving early to perfect their drills, the students showed great precision and dedication before stepping out in front of a crowd of 4,000 spectators.

With their official duties successfully completed, they thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the match. They collected souvenirs and player autographs, and even found time to tease Mr Johnson about New Zealand’s win!

🌟 EXCITING NEWS FOR OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our former students, Coby Killick, who has taken a huge step in his football journey by signing his first professional contract with Eastleigh Football Club! ⚽✈️

From the classrooms and playing fields of our school to the professional game, Coby’s achievement is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and passion for football.

This is a fantastic milestone and an inspiration to our current students, showing what can be achieved through commitment, perseverance, and belief in your goals.

COLLEGE TASTER DAYS UPDATE

The Peter Symonds College taster day will still go ahead tomorrow as planned. However, due to the weather conditions, there is a possibility that the day may finish earlier than scheduled. Please ensure that you are contactable throughout the day and keep your phone nearby in case your child needs to contact you regarding an earlier collection.

For students travelling independently using public transport, staff will ensure that they contact home before leaving should the day finish earlier than expected.

Important Update – Wednesday Closure and College Taster Days

As school will be closed on Wednesday due to the forecast high temperatures, the planned visit to Itchen College has been cancelled.

At present, the Barton Peveril College taster day is still scheduled to go ahead as planned. We will communicate any updates should this change.

Students attending Peter Symonds College are requested to wear their Crestwood logo tops/uniform. Peter Symonds has asked visiting students to do so, as it helps staff to easily identify and support students from different schools throughout the day.

DON’T FORGET YOUR WATER BOTTLES!

This letter has also been sent to all parents and carers via Arbor.

Thank you for your continued support.

YEAR 6 TRANSITION DAY/EVENING

Due to the high temperature weather forecast for Thursday this week, we have made the decision to cancel the meeting for parents in the evening. We will not be rearranging this, but will send out the presentation to all parents via email and will post on the transition section of the website here:
https://www.crestwood.hants.sch.uk/school-information/transition/

The transition day will still go ahead for students, but has been postponed to Wednesday 1 July 2026. We will inform primary schools of this change. All other details will remain the same. If the weather is hot on 1 July, students can wear their primary school PE kit instead of their school uniform if they wish. Please ensure students have a hat and a water bottle with them and that you apply sunscreen to them at the start of the day. We will avoid them being in direct sunlight/extreme heat as much as possible.

Uniform vouchers can be collected from either campus reception from Monday 29th June up to the end of term. They must be collected and signed for by a parent in person and cannot be sent home with siblings. Our receptions are open from 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3.30pm on Friday.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to email the transition team on: [email protected]

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

WEATHER UPDATE LETTER

This letter has also been sent to all parents and carers via Arbor.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Due to the high temperatures, there will be no after-school club or ASRs today. We will provide further information regarding arrangements for the rest of the week in due course.

Thank you for your understanding.

21/06/2026

Dear Parents/Carers,

I have consulted with the core senior team and we are going to be making changes to the uniform choices next week due to the amber heat alert.

Many parents have already purchased the new uniform ahead of September and students are enjoying the freedom that it gives them.

FOR NEXT WEEK ONLY STUDENTS CAN WEAR EITHER:
- New style polo shirt
- PE top
- White shirt
And
- Normal grey bottoms including tailored shorts and skirts
- Black sports shorts, mid knee length or below

Normal rules apply about jewellery and shoes.

PLEASE BE AWARE STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WEAR BLACK CYCLING SHORTS THAT ARE NOT MID THIGH, i.e B***Y SHORTS. ANY STUDENT WEARING SHORTS THAT ARE DEEMED TOO SHORT WILL BE ISOLATED UNTIL APPROPRIATE UNIFORM CAN BE DELIVERED TO SCHOOL.

Please ensure that your child has a water bottle with them, hat and sun cream. Activities at break and lunch, such as football, may be limited to protect children from sun or heat stroke.

We will continue to assess the situation throughout the coming days.

Kind regards

Mrs Dawkins
Executive Headteacher
