Dear Eaton Bray Ward and surrounding area.

Please be aware that there is a gang going around attacking work vans we’ve had one in Eaton Bray, Dunstable, Toddington, Caddington, Leighton Buzzard and now one in Potton.

Can we all work together and make sure that our security cameras are working so we can catch this gang in the act and make sure this doesn’t happen to any other hard-working individual.

What's your view on this proposal? Have your say....
Charging for garden waste
(proposed detail)
Many other local authorities charge for collecting garden waste. Doing so would reduce costs by £2.1million based on 46 per cent uptake at £55 per bin. The winter collection break would continue. (NOTE - there is also a proposal to change the green waste collection period which is shown as a saving so we think this is likely to be a reduction)

Cease provision of food caddy liners

Dimming street lights (no detail)

In 2025/26 the Council has included co-mingle glass kerb collection which is shown as being covered by Government funding

More proposals to save money and increase income to CBC Council to help balance the budget
-
Do any of these affect you? Would you like to have your say?

OUTSOURCE parking enforcement (an external company would operate parking enforcement instead of the Council)
INCREASE CAR PARKING charges (we have just seen changes to charges which will be introduced from January 2024, this will propose another review to increase charges)
INCREASE RESIDENT PARKING PERMITS - £60 for all vehicles (currently £10 first car, £70 2nd car, £90 3rd car)
INTRODUCE parking charges at the Health Hub (in 2027/28)
STOP FREE parking (currently Wednesday and Saturday afternoons in Ashton Square car park)
INTRODUCE more on street parking charges (no detail known)
INTRODUCE cashless payments only

HAVE YOUR SAY - there is an on line consultation - please have your say

Our car parks in Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard are set to benefit from a parking price drop, designed to boost the number of people visiting town centres and increase the time spent in high streets.
As part of the annual review of our fees and charges, we have agreed to implement new parking pricing to encourage custom and vibrancy in towns across the region and support the local economy.
In both towns, the cost of parking for up to two hours in our car parks will be reduced as of January 2024. Instead of paying £1.50 for one hour, town centre visitors will pay just £1. The two-hour rate will be reduced from £2 to £1.80.

Predicted sub-zero night-time temperatures trigger our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol support for those sleeping rough
No one should be sleeping rough this winter.

Our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is activated when the temperature is forecast to drop to zero degrees (or below) for three consecutive nights and it means that temporary night-time shelter is provided for people sleeping rough.

Because the weather is predicted to fall to 0ºC or below for the next few nights, our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has been activated up to and including 3 December 2023.

Our teams are ready to help anyone who finds themselves on the streets. If you see someone sleeping rough, the kindest thing you can do for them is contact our network, and we'll make sure they are offered support.

Full details about support available for people sleeping rough is on our website.
