We’re keen to get your input in how we run the library to we can improve it in 2026. So we’ve put together a survey for all our current members, previous members, and even those who haven’t tried the library yet. Everyone!

It should take maximum 10 minutes to complete. We’d really appreciate your time to feedback and let us know what we’re doing well, what we could be doing better, and any other ways we can improve.

It’s also a chance for us to do a giveaway! Include your email at the end of the survey, as we’re giving away a brand new copy of Photosynthesis (or a free 1 year membership if you already have a copy…) to one lucky survey respondent!

The competition and survey close at end of day on 14/Feb/2026. Link with all T&Cs in bio. Good luck!

Hey Meeple!

some imminent key dates to cover today, as we have to close for the summer soon!

Summer closure ⛔
August is looming… and so our home at Southside Community Centre will soon be closing to prepare to be transformed into a Fringe venue.

We’re going to offer some longer-term loans over this period to give you your much-needed summer gaming fix should you need a break from the festival.

We will need those games returning in a tight window after though, as we’ll be packing up the entire library once again at the start of September to run the board game library at Tabletop Scotland - more on this further down!

Timetable 📅
☀️ Borrow games over the summer
You can borrow games over the summer on Thursday 10th July or Thursday 17th July.

⛔ Summer closure
Our last opening day for the summer is Thursday 17th July. All other loans must be returned by then. We will be closed from then throughout August.

🔙 Return summer loans
There are three consecutive days at the start of September you must return your summer loans on. We will be enforcing £5 per-game fines for missing this window.
Return your games at 6-8pm in Room 2 at Southside Community Centre on:

Monday 1st September
Tuesday 2nd September
or Wednesday 3rd September.
Note: not Thursday - we’re not open then!

🎫 EBGL goes to Tabletop Scotland
We’ll then be packing up all our games and running the board game library at Tabletop Scotland from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th September. More about this below.

👋 Reopening
The library will reopen for borrowing once again on Thursday 11th September. We may not enable reservations straight away while we’re getting our inventory back in order.

Have you heard of Camel Up? This crazy camel racing and betting game is an easy group pleaser ranging from 2-8 players.
Bet on the outcome of each leg or the entire race, but be careful because the camels stack and can move together. With every dice through the leader can change. It’s for anyone 8+ and a play through is 20-30mins. Camel Up and 500 other board games are available to borrow at Edinburgh Board Game Library - join today

One exciting element of our new space in Southside Community Centre is that we have playing space! During our opening hours (6-8pm on a Thursday evening), stop by and play a quick game. Our volunteers are on hand to give recommendations, and might even join in if we're quiet. 🎲

📣 We have reopened for reservations! 📣

That's right, we're in our new home at Southside Community Centre and you can go online to make a reservation for collection this Thursday.

While you can come along on Thursday from 6-8pm and ✨️ browse ✨️ (a very exciting element of our new space!), if there's a specific game you are keen to borrow, we recommend reserving in advance to make sure it's available for you.

Looking forward to welcoming you in our new home!

We are moving to the Southside Community Centre!

Edinburg Board Game library is on the move! After the closure of the Cargo Bike Hub, we’re thrilled to announce our new home at Southside Community Centre. Starting in early April, you can once again visit us during our usual Thursday evening slot, 6–8 PM, in Room 2 of this fantastic venue.

The new space comes with plenty of perks—goodbye to basement stairs, hello to a cozy, heated room with more space for gaming!

As with any change, there are adjustments. Some games will be stored offsite due to space limitations, but we’re committed to making as many available as possible. Additionally, the library will take a summer break in August while the community centre serves as a Fringe Festival venue.

We’re immensely grateful to Southside Community Centre for welcoming us with open arms. We can’t wait to settle in, and we’ll send another update with a confirmed reopening date soon. Stay tuned for more exciting developments and opportunities to connect!

⚠️ Some big news! ⚠️

Our lovely hosts, Cargo Bike Movement, are merging with the Bike Station. This means we are hunting for a new home! We are so so grateful to Cargo Bike Movement for their generous support over the past two years, which has allowed us to go from a fleeting idea, to a fully fledged sharing library. 👏

But fear not, this is not the end! Our dedicated volunteers are in promising talks to find a new home, so watch this space. We hope to be making an announcement very soon... 👀

We will need some time to pack up, so the library will temporarily close while we move out of the Cargo Bike Hub. We’re asking for all games to be returned by Thursday 20th March so we can evaluate exactly how much space we need, and we will be cancelling any pending reservations beyond the next couple of weeks.

We are optimistic this will only be a brief hiatus, and we will provide updates on our reopening date as soon as possible. Thank you for your support during this transition!
