SCAM VAN coming to Dumfries!

The SCAM VAN will be visiting Dumfries and will be located outside the Loreburn Hall on Monday the 8th of June, from 10am to 2pm.

Dumfries Community Officers will be working alongside Trading Standards to provide advice and information on scams, fraud prevention, and how to stay safe.

Officers will also be inside the Loreburn Hall supporting Care Training and Consultancy CIC during their Carers Week 2026 event.

The theme for Carers Week 2026 is โ€œBuilding Carer Friendly Communitiesโ€, highlighting the importance of supporting unpaid carers and creating communities where they feel valued and understood.

We look forward to supporting this fantastic event and meeting members of the local community throughout the day.

This summer, hundreds of free sporting activities will be available for children and young people across Dumfries and Galloway.

Backed by ยฃ344k of SNP Scottish Government investment, the programme is designed to help more young people get active, try something new, and take part in sport regardless of their background, location or family circumstances.

From local clubs and community activities to free access opportunities and support for young people who face additional barriers, the aim is simple: make sport accessible to everyone in Dumfries and Galloway.

With the FIFA World Cup and Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games helping to inspire a new generation, this is a great opportunity for young people across our region to get involved, build confidence and have fun this summer.

PLEASE SHARE

Community organisations across Dumfries and Galloway are invited to access surplus furniture and equipment from the former Dumfries High School building.

As the school prepares for its move to the new campus, a variety of pieces of furniture and equipment have been identified as no longer required. Some items are being distributed to other schools in the region, and thereafter, items will be made available free of charge to community groups.

Community organisations are welcome to attend the old Dumfries High School on:

Monday 15 June โ€“ Wednesday 17 June 9:00am to 5:00pm

During this period, community groups may enter the building, identify any items they wish to take, and remove them on a first come, first served basis. All available furniture and equipment will be located on the ground floor for ease of access.

Please note:
All items must be collected no later than 5pm on Wednesday 17 June 2026.

If you wish to reserve items while arranging transport, please bring your own labels (e.g., postโ€‘it notes or tags) to clearly mark what you intend to collect.

This is a great opportunity to access secondโ€‘hand furniture and equipment that may benefit your organisation.
