istrict is an innovative business partnership model which allows businesses to pool and share their resources to deliver improvements to the local business environment, alongside other public and private sector partners, over and above those provided by local and national government. Original Edinburgh’s purpose is to: deliver a common vision that will promote and market the Old Town as a premium cultural, retail and hospitality experience; enhance and maintain our public space for workers, residents and visitors; and, provide a single voice to represent and advocate the interests of our local businesses. Following an extensive dialogue with local businesses, the priorities identified are: cleaner streets, stronger marketing, safety and security, more activity and events, and cost savings and support. These priorities and further dialogue will form the basis of a business plan for contributing businesses to vote on in late 2019.
