At the National Lottery Heritage Fund we support all sorts of projects that enable people and communities to connect with heritage. Heritage can mean different things to different people. It can be anything from the past that you value and want to pass onto future generations. Funding is available to support projects that enable a wide range of people to get involved in heritage and help people to explore and learn more about the past.

Can you help us with some feedback? We're nearing the end of Sophy and White: The Dunollie Collections Unboxed, our project funded by the The National Lottery Heritage Fund Scotland - and our evaluator would love to hear from you.

If you've been following the project from a distance - through these posts, the website, or word of mouth - you're exactly who we'd like to hear from. It helps us understand how far the project has reached beyond the castle walls.

The survey takes about 5 minutes and is completely anonymous: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SandW-remote

Thanks to players The National Lottery Heritage Fund supported the development of the fantastic new visitor centre and hubs at the Highland Wildlife Park, which fully opened last summer.

We think that might entitle us to an office day with these wee cuties, when can you drop them off?

Congratulations 🥰🎉🐆🐆

We welcome the The Scottish Government's decision to establish a partnership group to support the redevelopment of the People’s Palace.

Thanks to players the Heritage Fund is currently supporting Glasgow Life and Glasgow City Council development work at the People's Palace. We are also supporting wider regeneration of Glasgow’s East End with investment in major projects including the The Pipe Factory and the old Meat Market.

The Grand Old Lady and her Neighbours opens today at Barclay Viewforth Church in Edinburgh.

An exhibition about and with the community that calls the King's Theatre their own.

As Capital Theatres prepares for the reopening of the King's in August the exhibition shares the stories of just some of the people from the community involved in the Heritage Fund supported redevelopment

Curated by photographer Anneleen Lindsay the free, drop-in, exhibition of images, stories and oral histories is on all this week:

Nothing brings the nation together like a Scotland win.

It's not just about the winning it's about the taking part. Football heritage projects such as "Mon eh Ton" remind us of the strength sport has in bringing people together. Building connection, strengthening communities, and leaving a lasting impact off the pitch.

Originally established as a community club Greenock Morton Football Club, founded 1874, is one of the oldest in Scotland. Its rich heritage reflects the development of football in the country.

Mon eh Ton celebrates the club's 150th anniversary with supporters and the wider community.

From local clubs to the world stage, football memories connect us all.
Whether it’s Scotland in the sunshine or a wet weekend in Greenock, it’s never just a match—it’s a moment that lasts a lifetime.

At 43 Scotland keeper Craig Gordon is reportedly the oldest player at the World Cup, or rather... Scotland has the most experienced player in the tournament :)

We're preparing for Scotland's first kick of the ball in a World Cup finals for 28 years by looking at some of the sporting heritage projects supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in Scotland.

We were lucky enough to be joined by Craig Gordon for the launch of HeartofMidlothianFC's with Hearts Heritage and Big Hearts Community Trust back in 2024

Maroon Mile is a celebration of club and community that created a heritage trail from the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial at Haymarket to the club museum at Tynecastle Stadium.

🎨Work in progress🎨

As the launch of the first Barra Unearthed sites approaches, we're excited to share a sneak peek of the modelling work for the digital reconstruction of Dùn Bharpa chambered cairn.

Using detailed information on dimensions and building materials alongside photographs and other sources gathered by our Project Assistant Kirsty, Peel X modeller Jon has been working hard to create a beautiful reconstruction of the cairn, as it might have looked like around 5000 years ago in the Neolithic period.

This is particularly exciting as there are currently no tombs with accessible, preserved interiors in the Outer Hebrides. Soon, you will be able to walk up to Dùn Bharpa, take in the cairn as it currently stands before scanning the ground with your mobile phone to reveal a stunning interactive reconstruction. Duck down, follow the passageway, and step inside. What will you discover?

We learned a lot from our modelling process for the Uist sites, and we are excited to be applying this here. We can't wait to show you more soon!
