Ever wondered what's inside a building shaped like a hawk?

Our Hawkhead Activity Hub in Paisley opens its doors on 5 September, 10am to 3pm, for Doors Open Days Scotland. Have a wander through and see where our veterans spend their time: the bowling and curling rooms, the arts and craft room, and the woodwork room.

It's a fully accessible building, with a garden, refreshments, and parking on site. Free to attend, no booking needed.

People come to our vision groups for the activity. A lot of them stay for the company.

We're looking for three Vision Group Coordinators to join that work, across the Borders, Highlands & Grampian, and Edinburgh, Fife & Tayside.

You'll plan and lead social, confidence-building and peer-led sessions for people with sight loss, working alongside volunteers and local community partners to keep groups accessible, safe and welcoming.

Borders: 17.5 hours, hybrid
Highlands & Grampian: 35 hours, permanent, hybrid
Edinburgh, Fife & Tayside: 35 hours, permanent, hybrid

£28,074 to £30,695 (pro rata for part time).

You don't need to tick every box. Most people learn the role once they're in post.

Climb inside one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks, make your way through ladders and high-wire walkways, emerge from the mouth of a Kelpie, and finish with an unforgettable abseil from the top.

Some acts of service last a lifetime.

At 97, Adam McKenzie, one of only two surviving Korean War veterans in Scotland, returned to Scotland's Korean War Memorial to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Having helped turn the memorial from an idea into reality, his dedication to remembering those who served continues to inspire us all.

David settled into the sofa at our Hawkhead Centre this week with a soft crochet shawl round his shoulders, one of a stack of blankets that had just arrived from a kind neighbour.

Margaret Mclaren brought them in, all made by her neighbour Anne Spencer, who spends her spare time crocheting for local charities. They've already found a home, keeping veterans warm and comfortable during mindfulness sessions at the centre.

This one's for you, Anne. Thank you for thinking of our veterans, and thank you Margaret for delivering them.

By raising £250 or more, you'll help Sight Scotland Veterans continue providing support to veterans living with visual impairment across Scotland.

This adventure takes you inside The Kelpies, you'll climb through the iconic sculptures before taking on a thrilling abseil back to the ground.

School's out and we're having a family fun day for everyone!

Transport is available (first come first served). The transport will be leaving LVC at 1000hrs and returning from Linburn at 1530hrs (you must book a space) If you want to make your own way there you can, but we still require your names. Please note there is limited parking available.

NAMES AND TRANSPORT REQUIREMENTS need to be with LVC no later than COP FRIDAY the 24TH July.
