The slaughter of the Iranian people and the attempt to install an unwanted, zionist government in their country is just the latest chapter of imperialism in the Middle East.

We say no more mothers should mourn their sons, sent off to die in the bourgeoisie's wars.

We say no to increased military spending while millions live in poverty.

We say no to the British government's subservience to the United States.

We say no to 'Operation Epic Fury' and the mass murder of the Iranian people.

The struggle of British and Palestinian workers, though not equally arduous, are intertwined. We both face a common enemy, the twin headed serpent of Zionism and Fascism.

Join the YCL and the SPSC Augustine United Church, 41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1EL at 7pm this Thursday for a talk from a Palestinian on their struggle and what British organisers can learn from it.

Additionally, we'll be raising money to keep Emergency Rooms open and stocked in Tulkarem refugee camp, supporting the displaced and giving them access to good-quality care.

The YCL was present at the National Demonstration for Palestine in Edinburgh, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people in their fight against Israel and the American and British ruling classes, our common enemy.

Join us and the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign at Augustine United Church on the 5th of February at 7pm for an educational about Palestinian resistance and what British organisers can learn from it, and a fundraiser for medical care in the Tulkarm refugee camp in the West Bank.

TRUMP & STARMER: HANDS OFF VENEZUELA! 🇻🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The YCL was among the many organisations that were out in force at the US Consulate last Saturday to call for the immediate release of Nicolás Maduro and condemn American and British intervention against other countries.

While global capitalism has sent generations of the working class to war for centuries, the rich sit at home enjoying the spoils. As miltarism increases, Britain stands on the precipice of yet another disastrous inperialist war.

Only socialism can break us out of this cycle, allow us to pursue foreign policy that puts the working class first, and let us live in peace.

On Monday, we were outside the US Consulate to condemn the USA’s barbaric and imperialist attack on a sovereign nation- Venezuela. 🇻🇪

Keir Starmer’s statements in the aftermath of the attack is nothing short of cowardly, and proves that international law isn’t to be applied if there is profit to be made and to maintain the capitalist domination of the global south.

Hands off Venezuela! 🚩

Happy St George’s day to all our English comrades 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🚩

🚩🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The Young Communist League sends greetings to working people across England on St George’s Day! This day - which should be a public holiday - is an opportunity to celebrate the radical history and modern diversity of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🚩

➡️ Socialist patriotism is not about whitewashing your country’s history or national chauvinism. Socialists must oppose reactionary nationalism and jingoism which are a dangerous false path for working people.

➡️ The crimes of Britain’s Empire and our ruling class today are truly shameful. But we cannot and should not abandon the idea of national identity to the tories or the far right or allow them to define it.

➡️ England, like the rest of Britain, has a proud democratic, egalitarian and socialist tradition. Wat Tyler, John Ball, the English Revolution, the Diggers, the Tolpuddle Martyrs, the Chartists, the trailblazers of the trade union movement, the Suffragettes, the pioneers of Britain’s Communist movement and the Miners Strike are just a few pieces of working class English heritage.

➡️ The task of socialists is to reclaim national identity - which in our class society has been hijacked by the exploitative and oppressive ideology of the capitalist class - and define it in terms of our class, our history and socialist principles. This is not to ignore the past and continuing crimes of our ruling class here or internationally. Socialists do and must resist these at all times. A class conscious and socialist patriotism will be a powerful tool in this struggle and in the struggle for socialism.

On this St George’s Day remember the legends, near and distant, of England’s working class! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Start the fight to reclaim our national identity from the right and the ruling class! ✊
