Dolly Parton has donated over 270 million free books to kids. In 1995, she started a nonprofit called Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
Imagination Library: Sends free, age-appropriate books each month to children from birth to age five. The "Book Lady": Dolly earned this affectionate nickname for gifting over 330 million books worldwide through her charitable foundation. Her father was her inspiration who was unable to read or write.
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dolly Parton.
Dolly was a remarkable champion for children's reading, dedicated to helping more children access books and experience the joy of stories.
She understood the life-changing power of reading and worked tirelessly to ensure more young people had the opportunity to benefit from it.
