Founded in 1983, ERA keeps a watching eye on pressing local issues such as the ‘Gateway West’ development in Station Road North and the Whitehall Farm gravel-raising proposals as well as the general maintenance of the town. ERA is also proactive in its involvement with community events including Magna Carta Day, the Egham Royal Show, the Community Fair, our annual coach trip and other local events and activities. The association has approximately 400 members, all of whom live locally in Egham. For the last 35 years and more ERA has been continuously focussed on preserving and and improving the facilities in Egham Town and championing the interests of its residents. The ERA committee ( of approximately 12 members) meets regularly with the town’s Independent Runnymede councillors, leaders of the Englefield Green Village Residents’ Association (EGVRA) and representatives of Royal Holloway College. We are always looking for more committee volunteers to help us expand and develop the activities we are currently involved in. We would love to welcome new committee members of all ages. Thanks to all those who made yesterday evening's barn dance at the Egham Royal Show super fun. The atmosphere was lovely and friendly and I get the feeling everyone had a ball. We were sold out and yet there seemed more room than last year - not sure if the tent was bigger or the table layout was smarter. Kingsfolk did us proud with excellent music.

Whatever your views on Heathrow expansion - this might be worth attending.

Residents are invited to attend a public webinar on the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HNPS).

The Department for Transport (DfT), in partnership with the Council for the Independent Scrutiny of Heathrow Airport (CISHA), is hosting an online webinar on Wednesday 12 August, from 2pm to 3.30pm.

The session will explain the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement, how it will be used to assess future Heathrow expansion proposals, and provide information about the current public consultation.

How do you think we should spend funds?

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding is collected from developers building new housing in Runnymede, and used to deliver infrastructure that supports both new developments and wider local communities.

There are two types of funding: strategic CIL (for schemes benefitting a wider range of people) and neighbourhood CIL (for schemes benefitting local neighbourhood communities).

This summer, infrastructure providers and community groups were invited to apply for funding to help deliver strategic infrastructure projects, that will support the development of the area. Applications were assessed against our funding criteria, and a shortlist of projects has been recommended.

Before we make final funding decisions, we’re inviting you to have your say on the shortlist of recommended schemes – known as the ‘CIL Funding Programme’. We’d love to hear your views by Wednesday 26 August.
