Throwback to last week, when we welcomed local media teams to our new Northern Air Support Unit! 🚁

Join our CEO, Kathryn Marsden OBE, for a walkaround tour of our new base, including a look inside the future operations room and hangar, as we get closer to bringing this exciting project to life!

This new base in the north of the region will help us strengthen our lifesaving service across Yorkshire, giving our crews the facilities they need to continue delivering critical care to patients when they need it most.

Would you know what to do if someone's heart stopped?

Today is - a day dedicated to promoting the importance of CPR training.

This year to date, we have attended 265 cardiac arrests. Anyone can learn CPR, and even a basic understanding can save lives.

🎥 In this video, YAA paramedic Andy talks through how to perform life-saving CPR - using the real-life story of Lee, who collapsed during a rugby match. Thanks to the quick thinking and fast actions of his teammates, Lee survived. 🏉

If someone isn't breathing, call 999 and start CPR. You could be the reason someone gets a second chance at life.💛

As work continues on our Big Airbase Build, we’d like to shine a spotlight on The HACS Group for their incredible support throughout this project.

HACS have been our construction partner for the build, helping to bring our vision for a new Northern Air Support Unit to life.

They’re also proud to be a Gold Sponsor of our Big Airbase Build, making a valuable contribution towards creating a new home for our lifesaving service - and their support doesn’t stop there!

Throughout September, HACS staff took on a Miles That Matter challenge, cycling 100 miles for 30 days to raise funds for YAA. Together, they’ve raised a fantastic £3,335 - and HACS are match funding the full amount, meaning their fundraising will have an even greater impact!

MEET THE TEAM - Technical Crew Member (TCM) Lucy May

Lucy joins YAA as a TCM, bringing experience in emergency response and ambulance services.

Originally from Hayling Island in Hampshire, Lucy moved to Newcastle at 14 with family. It was there she began following her passion for healthcare, completing an apprenticeship with the North East Ambulance Service. Lucy has also volunteered with the British Red Cross across the UK and supported projects in Costa Rica.

A lifelong aviation fan, combining healthcare and helicopters has always been a dream for Lucy.

Outside of work, Lucy enjoys multiple hobbies such as photography and Formula One, as well as cycling and spending time with her rescue cat, Oliver.
