Carbon monoxide and fire safety advice from HETAS. We add that steel buckets filled with hot ash have also started burning wooden boat decks. So leave a hot ash bucket on a non-combustible surface.
We kow its obvious, but sometime a reminder is needed, that only metal buckets should be used - plastic or wooden containers may melt or catch fire.
Lit embers have also blown out of buckets without lids to start fires. So only use buckets that have some form of, or on which you canplace a non-combustible lid.
Always ensure the ash is stone-cold before you dispose of it from your boat responsibly in proper waste sites. Do not tip it into the waterway.

HETAS is advising homeowners on safe disposal of ash from your stove following a recent carbon monoxide incident in Newton Abbot.

High winds in the east. Be cautious if boating while these conditions continue

Boating News - Breydon Water is currently closed to hire craft due to the high winds and rough weather conditions. The closure is likely to remain in place for the rest of the day.

Phew😅...what a night, got woken up at 2.00am by our Carbon Monxide Alarm going off, which is most unusual!! After jumping out of bed to see what on earth was going on, we then opened all the doors and windows for 15 mins to clear the
air..
EDIT*..The reason our alarm went off was because we had stupidly left our warm ash in a bucket in the bow, this created Carbon Monoxide...if we didn't have an alarm I wouldn't be writing this😱...Now thats scary!

Today the car is going in for a MOT, wish me luck!!
