Ellon Castle Gardens

Ellon Castle Gardens Ellon Castle Gardens is a charitable trust run by volunteers to restore the gardens and historical monuments for the local community. Dogs on leads welcome.

Entry fee is £5 for non-members. Membership, opening times, events available via the website. The objects of the Trust are:-
(a) to promote and advance heritage, culture and environmental protection or improvement for the public benefit, in particular (but without limitation) by restoring, maintaining, permanently preserving, and making accessible to the public the Scheduled Ancient Monument whic

h is Ellon Castle Gardens, in order to conserve and facilitate access to a place of historical interest and encourage interest in local history while also encouraging the conservation of the natural environment for the benefit of the local community and the wider public through the promotion of gardening, plant management and conservation works in relation to Ellon Castle Gardens or any other similar gardens which operate in order to advance heritage (“heritage gardens”);
(b) to advance education in relation to heritage gardens, by educating, advising and encouraging members of the public in relation to matters relating to heritage gardens;
(c) to promote heritage gardens at all levels of cultural and educational life in Scotland and elsewhere, and to advance community development by increasing or promoting the involvement of individuals in community activity through the provision or promotion of heritage gardens

Thank you to the fabulous Illyria for a great production of The Three Musketeers Outdoor Theatre in the Gardens last night. Annie's Tearoom Limited provided picnics and refreshments from 'Poppy'. The weather was kind, the audience were great (including a few very well-behaved dogs).

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays our garden volunteers are out in force working hard to keep the gardens looking their best for visitors. I am sure you'll agree that they do a five star job! Here are a few photos of some of the team tending to the borders and paths. We're excited to welcome Exclusively Highlands back for their Summer Market at Ellon Castle Gardens this weekend! If you enjoyed the Spring Market, come and see some new exhibitors and some old favourites (full list in the comments).

15th & 16th August
10am to 4pm
Entry £2.50 for all adults, children free

A great opportunity to purchase something uniquely delightful or wonderfully tasty and handmade in Scotland. A chance to see and converse with the lovely craftspeople.

Come and meet an eclectic array of artisans from across Scotland, discuss their techniques, sample their wares, view their products and maybe purchase something unique.

You will be able to find metal artwork and accessories, textile artisans, soap and skincare experts, ceramists, home wares, artists, driftwood art along with wood turning, dog accessories, candlemakers, Japanese silk work, wood and resin artwork. A range of jewellery covering sea glass, beaded work, silver, gemstone, copper and pewter work. All demonstrating how traditional techniques are still used today to make beautiful and contemporary items.

Drink vendors from across Scotland will cover cordials, botanical spirits, many different flavours of gin, delightful rums, cocktails and fruit flavoured liquors.

Food offerings range from a delicious variety of cheeses, sumptuous artisan bakes, a fabulous collection of preserves, delightful pickled veg, wonderfully appealing fudge and confectionery and a very tempting range of hand made chocolates.

Street food will be available from El Dorados range of Mexican food and drink together with delicious Thai food from Cherry’s thai2go. Teas, coffees and cold drinks will be from Roaring Stag.

After a cloudy start, we were delighted to get some great views of the Solar Eclipse at Ellon Castle Gardens this evening. It was lovely to see people of all ages enjoying this rare astronomical event. Please share your photos in the comments, we'd love to see them! 🌙

This hugely popular event sold out in under 5 hours and we had a long waiting list, so we're sorry some of you missed out this time. We have more great events coming up! This weekend there's the fantastic Summer Market at Ellon Castle Gardens with over 60 excellent art, craft, food and drink stalls.
