News from Rural Care
What is it like to come to Rural Care?
Day to day, our Co-Farmers work in small, mixed ability groups and are supported to undertake activities that suit their different interests, needs and abilities. While our days are structured and follow a routine, the jobs often change and there is plenty of variety within each day, each season and each year.
Our wide range of jobs include caring for our farm animals, growing fruit and vegetables on our allotment, making crafts and selling them in our shop, working on woodwork products and so much more.
We have some jobs that we do regularly, like collecting eggs which we then clean, put into egg boxes, label with date stickers, and wheelbarrow to the shop. This job needs doing every day and is done all year round. Other jobs, like harvesting lavender to make bath salts and lavender bags, are seasonal jobs so we only do this for a few months in the year.
Our program supports our Co-Farmers to develop independence, personal responsibility and growth. We take part in meaningful and valuable work that offers a sense of purpose and inclusion, and allows our farm to run smoothly.
Rural Care is a day service at Aldenham Country Park that supports individuals with additional needs to learn new skills and make new friends in a safe and caring environment supported by qualified and experienced staff.
