We’ve installed a new path at The Common on Monk’s Hill in Westbourne - it looks fantastic in the autumn sunshine today ☀️

The ground gets very muddy in the winter so it will help those who enjoy the park from getting too dirty 🥾

To make the most of the soil we dug out, we’ve made a new amphitheatre to create more seating and a fun place to play. If your children enjoy putting on shows, here’s your new destination! 🎭

There’s also lots of conkers from our wonderful horse chestnut trees 🌳 if your children like playing with them.

Thank you to our amazing grounds maintenance team who work so hard to make the park a lovely place.

🚗 WESTBOURNE — LET’S SLOW DOWN! 🚗

Speeding is one of the biggest concerns raised by residents in and around Westbourne. We have speed limits for a reason, but unfortunately, not everyone sticks to them.

But there is something you can do to help. 👇

👀 Join Westbourne Speedwatch!

Our local Speedwatch volunteers carry out one-hour sessions, in groups of two or three, using a speed recording device. The information collected is passed to the police, who will then send letters to drivers who are recorded speeding.

But it’s not just about the letters — being visible at the roadside helps remind drivers to slow down and makes our roads safer for everyone.

📊 In the last 12 months:
• 28 Speedwatch sessions
• 4 locations around the village
• 230 letters sent to drivers
• Just 6 volunteers making it happen!

You can volunteer as often or as little as you like — there’s no ongoing commitment. Even giving an hour occasionally can make a real difference.

🙋‍♀️ Could you spare an hour to help make Westbourne’s roads safer?

If you’d like to find out more or join Speedwatch, please contact the Parish Clerk.
