An invitation can feel overwhelming.

“Are you coming to Christmas dinner? We’d love to see you.”

A message sent with love can still be difficult to answer when you’re struggling with your mental health. You might want to go, but worry about how you’ll feel, what questions people might ask, or whether you have the energy to join in.

Sometimes, the unanswered message comes from not knowing how to explain what you’re going through.

Being listened to matters. Lamp’s advocates stand beside people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, helping them understand their options and ensure their wishes are heard in decisions about their care.

This Christmas, bring Lamp to your table.

A personal donation, a collection with friends or colleagues, or a contribution from your business can help support that work. How you take part, and how much you give, is up to you.

💛 £18 can fund a first contact conversation.
💛 £420 can fund a full mental health advocacy journey.

Give what you can and help someone be heard this Christmas.

The hardest part of Christmas can be showing up.

For someone struggling with their mental health, the pressure to join in, feel happy and say “I’m fine” can make Christmas overwhelming. They might turn down invitations, stop replying or find it harder to ask for help.

This Christmas, we’re inviting you to bring Lamp to your table through our Empty Seat campaign.

Whether you’re getting together with family, friends, colleagues or your club, you can make supporting Lamp part of your celebrations. That might be a personal gift, a collection around the table or a contribution from your business. How you take part, and how much you give, is up to you.

Your support helps fund independent mental health advocacy across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Lamp’s advocates help people understand their options, prepare for appointments and have their wishes heard in decisions about their care.

💛 £18 can fund a first contact conversation.
💛 £420 can fund a full mental health advocacy journey.

As we come together this Christmas, we can help someone get the support they need to be heard.

Give what you can and help someone be heard this festive period!!

💙🏅 A huge thank you to Team Lamp!

What a fantastic morning at the Leicester Half Marathon, and what a pleasure it was to see so many people proudly wearing their Lamp blue!

To everyone who took on the challenge today, whether you were chasing a personal best, running your first half marathon or simply determined to reach the finish line, we want to say a massive thank you.

Every mile you’ve run, every donation you’ve raised and every conversation you’ve started about mental health helps us continue providing free, independent mental health advocacy to people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

It was wonderful to catch up with some of our runners, including James and Elliot, and see those well-earned medals at the finish line!

We know how much time, effort and determination goes into preparing for an event like this, and we’re incredibly grateful that you’ve chosen to support Lamp.

You haven’t just completed 6 miles or 13.1 miles today. You’ve helped make sure more people facing mental health challenges have someone in their corner when they need it most.

Congratulations to every single one of you. We’re proud to have you representing Lamp! 💙

📸 If you ran for Lamp today, please share your finish line photos with us. We’d love to celebrate your achievement!

Behind every conversation about mental health, there’s a real person with a real story.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and we’re delighted to be joining Romail Gulzar (Romail Gulzar FRSA) from Pukaar News (Pukaar News) at John Le wis Leicester (John Lewis Leicester) for a special event inspired by his book, A Mind on the Edge: A Mental Health Story.

Romail’s personal memoir explores his experiences of anxiety, depression and trauma, sharing a journey of survival, recovery and overcoming some incredibly difficult challenges.

It’s a reminder that behind the statistics, campaigns and conversations about mental health are real people whose experiences deserve to be heard.

Under the theme Real Voices, Real Change, today’s event is an opportunity to bring those conversations into the heart of Leicester, encouraging people to share their experiences, listen to others and recognise the importance of speaking openly about mental health.

At Lamp, we understand how difficult it can be for someone to find their voice, particularly when they’re struggling with their mental health or trying to navigate complicated support services. Our independent advocacy work is about ensuring people feel listened to, understood and empowered to make decisions about their own lives.

We’d love you to come along today, whether that’s to learn more about Romail’s story, find out about Lamp’s work or simply enjoy a friendly conversation.

📅 Today, Saturday 10 October 2026
🕙 10am to 3pm

Thank you to Romail Gulzar, Pukaar News, John Lewis Leicester and everyone involved in bringing this event together.

Sometimes, hearing someone else’s story gives us the confidence to share our own.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Sometimes reaching out doesn’t need a perfect reason, the right words or a big conversation.

Pick up the phone. Send that message. Knock on that door. Drop them a voice note.

It might feel like a small thing to you, but to someone else it could completely change their day.

We can’t always know what somebody is carrying, and we won’t always know when they need to hear from us most.

So don’t overthink it.

“Hey, how you doing?” might be enough to open the door to a conversation that really matters.
