Masked men burning people out of their homes and ripping up our streets is something we fought hard to escape here.
We cannot be dragged back by selfish, reckless thuggery.

Ask questions, seek answers
but do not use genuine concerns to mask thuggery, violence and blatant terror.

Balance has a place.
Concerns can be expressed with dignity and respect, do not allow them to be used as an excuse for abuse or fuelling an already volatile situation on social media by armchair trolls.

People should be able to support one another without being labelled.
People should be able to ask questions and express concerns without being labelled.
People should be able to trust in their elected representatives, their governments to do their jobs.
People should be able to speak with dignity and respect.
People should be able to live in peace.

In response to Peadar Tóibín's question, An Taoiseach stated that there should be an apology from the British government in relation to the Springhill Massacre.

5 people; 3 children, a father and a priest were killed by the British Army.

Will Hilary Benn do the right thing?

“Ní bhrisfidh siad mé mar tá an fonn saoirse agus saoirse mhuintir na hEireann i mo chroí. Tiocfaidh lá éigin nuair a bheidh an fonn saoirse seo le taispeáint ag daoine go léir na hEireann ansin tchífidh muid eirí na gealaí.”

(If they aren’t able to destroy the desire for freedom, they won’t break you. They won’t break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then we’ll see the rising of the moon.)

Aontú Enniskillen Rep, Carl Duffy, reflects on the lessons on politics he has learned from his time travelling abroad in his latest piece.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited over fifty countries and to have seen a varietyof different cultures first-hand. From the consumeristic USA to the communistcountries of Cuba and Vietnam. Or from the Islamic societies of Jordan, Morocco andEgypt to the Buddhist Thailand. In Palestine, I ...

At the heart of our principles in Aontú is the belief in being true to who we are, not diluting our colours or beliefs but respecting the views of others whilst being genuine, not wearing the political clothes of others.

The shameful DUP motion to remove the Bobby Sands statue in Twinbrook represents cynical politics that seeks only to inflame sectarian tensions instead of addressing issues such as the cost of living.

Bobby Sands left a lasting legacy in the hearts of Irish Republicans and inspired many other freedom fighters across the globe.
"Everyone, Republican or otherwise, has their own particular part to play."
