Residents across the Fermanagh and Omagh district are reminded to recognise the potentially devastating consequences of tampering with or removing vital water rescue equipment following ongoing vandalism of throw lines at locations across the Council area.🥹

Each time a throw line is removed, vandalised or thrown into the river, a critical piece of emergency equipment is no longer available to help someone in danger.🦺

Every damaged or stolen throw line weakens our emergency response network and increases the risk to those using our waterways.🌊

Please help us protect our local community - anyone who witnesses damage or theft of lifesaving equipment, or discovers a damaged or missing throw line, is asked to report it immediately to the Council by ☎️ 0300 303 1777 or 📩 [email protected]

At the start of August a five-day Police Service of Northern Ireland road safety operation has resulted in 2,132 speeding detections while a further 308 traffic offences were detected.

Chief Inspector Celeste Simpson is the Head of the PSNI's Road Policing Unit.

“Despite repeated police appeals for motorists to slow down, there are still drivers speeding. There are still drivers who are not heeding our fatal five messaging, drivers who think it’s okay to drink-drive, to not wear a seatbelt, to drive an uninsured car or use your phone while driving,” says Chief Inspector Simpson.

"Anyone who speeds, who commits any of these offences, is putting their life and the lives of others at risk. It’s unacceptable, and there has to be a societal attitude change towards speeding and road safety in general.

The attitude ‘it’s not really a crime’, or ‘the worst won’t happen to me’ has to change and people have to take personal responsibility for their actions. Drivers must think what they need to do keep themselves and every other road user safe.”

Interactive workshop aimed at voluntary and community leaders and frontline practitioners involved in crisis support, mental health, safeguarding, outreach, and community/place based services!

Join us for an interactive workshop on the PSNI-led Right Care, Right Person (RCRP) programme— a collaborative approach being developed with Health and Social Care Trusts, the Department of Health, Department of Justice and other partners.

RCRP is designed to help ensure that when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, is the subject of a welfare concern, or is absent without leave / has walked out of a healthcare setting, they receive the most appropriate and timely response from the service best placed to meet their needs.

The shared aim is to improve outcomes for individuals, strengthen safeguarding, and support a safe, person-centred response—while ensuring policing resources are used appropriately where a police response is necessary.
