In June 2026, we will be holding a Subletting Amnesty, offering tenants who are illegally subletting their homes the chance to come forward without facing penalties.🏠

Under the scheme, tenants who voluntarily return their keys and end their tenancy will not face further action. However, the amnesty does not apply to cases already identified by our Tenancy team and are awaiting action.

Tenants wishing to take part are encouraged to:
- contact the council by emailing [email protected] or calling 01992 564716 to speak with a member of the team.
- They will then need to visit the Civic Offices, hand in their keys, and sign a Notice to Quit (NTQ) form. The form can also be emailed, if required.

Tenants found committing tenancy fraud outside the amnesty month could face serious consequences, including eviction, fines of up to £50,000, or even imprisonment for up to two years.

We are aware that the Home Office has vacated all residents staying at The Bell Hotel, Epping and that only security staff remain onsite.

Despite ongoing engagement with the Home Office, we did not know in advance that this was going to happen. We are seeking clarification from the Home Office on the details of what has happened and what their next steps will be.

🎉So pleased to announce TVS Ltd and Epping Forest District Council have won a national award for Best Recycling and Waste Service Improvement (Council).🎉

The award was given to representatives of both organisations at the 2025 Waste and Recycling Awards last Wednesday.

Since TVS Ltd was launched in 2024, they have worked with the council to deliver the successful district-wide move to wheeled bins and co-mingled recycling – improvements that helped secure this national recognition. The partnership has also seen a new operations hub, a modern fleet, new training and monitoring systems and route optimisation.

Take part in our public safety survey.

This is to gain a deeper understanding of how safe women, in particular, feel across the district, and to identify ways to enhance safety for women and girls.

The survey asks people to share their personal experiences, concerns and ideas on how to make Epping Forest a safer place for everyone.

Closes at 31 July 2026.
