We carry out an annual canvass every year for all households in the Epping Forest district. This is to check the information on the electoral register is correct and up to date.

1️⃣This year we are sending an initial email to check who is eligible to be registered to vote. Please respond to this email to prevent us chasing you.

If you have internet access, a mobile phone, or a landline you can respond online, by phone or by text. Follow the instructions in your email.

2️⃣Following this we will send the remaining households a letter in August/September to check the information we have on the electoral register.

Depending on the colour of the letter will depend on where you will need to respond.

⚪White letter
Properties receiving a white letter only need to respond if any of the information is incorrect or you need to delete, amend or add names. Just follow the instructions on the letter.

🟡Yellow letter
Properties receiving a yellow letter must respond, even if there are no changes to the details. Just follow the instructions on the letter.

You will need your 2-part security code which you’ll find on the front of your letter if you are responding using any of the automated response options available.

As part of Sexual Health Week 2026, we are pleased to be offering a FREE virtual awareness session – open to parents and carers of young people in Essex and Suffolk

Tuesday 15th September 2026 – 20:00-21:30

Join Essex Sexual Health Service (ESHS) and Suffolk Sexual Health Service (SSHS) for a session delivered by a CEOP Education Ambassador, focused on increasing awareness and understanding of online child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Technology and online spaces are an important part of young people's lives. This session will explore how these spaces can be used to facilitate sexual abuse, grooming and exploitation, as well as the changing risks children and young people may experience online.

The session will cover:
• online child sexual abuse and exploitation
• grooming and how this can take place online
• financially motivated sexual extortion
• AI-generated and digitally manipulated sexual images
• factors that can increase vulnerability to exploitation
• recognising signs that a young person may need support
• talking to young people about relationships, consent and online experiences
• responding to concerns and disclosures without blame
• reporting concerns and accessing appropriate support

The session will also consider the important role parents and carers have in creating open, supportive conversations with young people, and how these conversations can help reduce harm and encourage young people to seek support when they need it.

Parents and carers will leave with up-to-date information, increased awareness and clear guidance on supporting young people to navigate relationships and online spaces more safely.

Information about support available through Essex Sexual Health Service and Suffolk Sexual Health Service, along with other relevant services will also be provided.

A spate of racist graffiti in Epping High Street led to 2 men being charged, in a partnership operation between Epping Forest District Council and Essex Police.

The graffiti was on bins, a phone box, bus shelters and local shop windows which caused much upset and tensions in the local community.

Through ASB reports, dates and times of the incidents were pinpointed. Further investigation by CCTV officers and a media appeal by Essex Police led to two suspects – a father and son – living at Bodley Close, Epping – being identified.

It appeared the incidents were occurring after they left a local pub and graffitied racial slurs along the High Street on their walk home.

In October 2023, the 2 suspects were arrested and bailed. On their initial court appearance one pleaded guilty and the other not guilty.

The guilty plea was dealt with at the time.

The other defendant changed his plea to guilty when he appeared at Crown Court in July 2026. The charge was racially aggravated damage to property and he was fined and ordered to pay compensation.
