The fundraiser to protect Downs Farm Reigate Road, Epsom from development continues to grow, but more funds are needed for legal advice. In a few days, £4850 has been raised from 44 donors. Legal guidance and action is required to protect Green Belt land. All donations are welcome!

There are real concerns on the lack of infrastructure (schools and healthcare) to support more than 600 homes.

With developers pushing to build up to 656 homes directly on Downs Farm and an imminent planning application expected, the Ewell Downs Residents’ Association (EDRA) is taking decisive legal action to fight this devastating development and protect local community. Importantly, Phase 1 will launch a formal Judicial Review challenging the overarching Local Plan process itself—a vital legal challenge that helps protect not only Downs Farm, but multiple Green Belt sites across the entire borough from unlawful release. The Council has published Local Plan Additional Sites and Docs Public Hearing Agenda on Thursday 2nd July from 9:30am. Public are all welcome to attend at Epsom Council, there is no need for registration for public hearing. The Inspector, planning officers developers and some councillors and residents will be speaking. Full agenda see link below:

The link below has details of the representations and comments received during the consultation process for the Local Plan for Epsom and Ewell. A total of 367 people responded, which shows the strength of public opinion.

The hearing with the Inspector starts at 09:30 on Thursday 2nd July in the council chamber.

The scale of the development of Downs Farm, as previewed by the developers. Nothing has been finalised. This is one of several scenarios.

An outline schematic for the development at Downs Farm, Reigate Road. This was presented at a meeting on Wednesday in Nork by agents for the developer. The South Field will be a leisure facility initially, but could be developed in the future.
