You know your age, do you ?

More than four in ten UK adults (43%) don’t know their current blood pressure reading, and almost a third (31%) don’t check it regularly. Most people understand the risks in theory. 84% know high blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and 79% link it to strokes. But action is lagging behind, and confusion is part of the problem. Nearly half (49%) mistakenly believe high blood pressure comes with clear symptoms, when very often there are no symptoms at all until something serious happens.

The Prevention and Assessment Team will be offering free blood pressure checks and pulse checks on the following days...

Come along, have a chat and find our your numbers.

Imagine being assessed for a potential hip fracture without ever leaving your living room. For a growing number of patients across Surrey, that is now a reality, thanks to Consultant Radiologist Andrew Moth and a service he helped develop between Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust .

A senior radiographer and advanced paramedic practitioner can attend patients in their own home or care home, with mobile X-ray equipment and real-time image transfer, meaning clinical decisions can often be made within around 30 minutes.

And it’s making a real difference. Around seven in ten patients assessed during the first two pilot phases did not have a fracture, meaning most could be safely treated at home without a potentially distressing trip to hospital.

For older and more vulnerable people, being assessed somewhere familiar can make a huge difference.

By bringing specialist care to people rather than asking them to travel for it, Andrew and his colleagues are showing what’s possible when we think differently about how and where healthcare is delivered.

The flu vaccine helps protect against flu, which can be a serious or even life-threatening illness.

Those who are pregnant, children aged 2 to 3 years, school-aged children (Reception to Year 11) and children with certain long-term health conditions can now have their vaccine, and others at higher risk will be eligible from 1 October.

Well done team QVH!!!

We are delighted to share that QVH has once again been recognised as one of the country's top-performing hospitals for patient experience, achieving the joint highest overall patient experience score in England in the latest national Care Quality Commission Adult Inpatient Survey! 🎉

Our patients rated their overall experience at QVH 9.3 out of 10, compared with a national average of 8.2, with particularly high scores for respect and dignity (9.8/10), kindness and compassion (9.7/10), confidence and trust in doctors and nurses (9.5/10), and cleanliness (9.7/10). The survey also highlighted several areas where QVH stands out nationally, including getting patients to a ward bed quickly, taking account of patients' mental health needs, supporting families and carers, and helping patients understand what happens next after discharge.

Thank you to all of our QVH colleagues - whether you work directly with patients or in one of our many support services - you all contributed to these brilliant results! Thank you also to our patients for taking the time to share their feedback and help us continue to improve. đź’™

Charlotte is passionate about building NHS services around the needs of local people.

At Haslemere Hospital, Charlotte has helped transform the former Minor Injuries Unit into an Urgent Treatment Centre, meaning more people can now receive care for both minor injuries and illnesses closer to home.

And the transformation doesn’t stop there. Charlotte is also leading work to develop a long-term conditions hub, initially focused on cardiology and heart failure, alongside integrated neighbourhood teams bringing health and care professionals together to provide more coordinated support.

“By supporting people earlier and providing more care closer to home, we can help them stay well and access the right care at the right time,” says Charlotte.

Her work is helping to create a more connected approach to healthcare – supporting people in their communities while reducing pressure on acute hospital services.

Late summer getaway coming up? Pack light. Order right.

We all know baggage allowance tends to get smaller every year, so before you fly, make sure you’ve not added extra prescriptions into your plans.
