Our Social Media Community Standards ...

We want to make sure there are good conversations on our social media accounts. We will encourage respectful and open conversation, but we have some standards of what is acceptable and what is not. What comments do we class as unacceptable?

• Malicious or unreasonably negative against our staff or another commenter.
• Abusive to individuals or the organi

sation.
• Non-inclusive views or language.
• Offensive, including but not limited to: any type of prejudice or discrimination, bullying, or harassment.
• Obscene.
• Negative assumptions about our actions, e.g., we won’t listen, our intentions are corrupt.
• Misinformation and disinformation.
• In violation of a law or regulation.
• Using a post to change the topic for a personal or political campaign. What it’s not

• Challenging decisions.
• Giving constructive negative feedback on our Service or services. What actions will we take

No difficult or unacceptable comment will go unchallenged. Not responding can allow views to be felt to be validated and could be seen by onlookers as a lack of caring or even as if we’re accepting of those views. We will assess each situation and aim to resolve most situations first with a clear message of why we feel the comment is unacceptable, reinforcing our values at every opportunity. If people are persistent or the severity – such as targeted abuse naming or aimed at an individual – of the comment warrants it, we will delete it, block the user and report that account to social media platforms or enact our Unreasonable behaviour policy, if the route is through website comments or complaints.

On Wednesday, we proudly raised the Romani flag at Service Headquarters as a symbol of our support for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities and our commitment to ensuring everyone has access to life-saving fire safety advice. The Romani flag, with its blue sky, green earth and red wheel, celebrates Romani heritage, culture, and identity.

We don’t just put out fires; we work hard to prevent them. Through our community safety work, we continue to build strong relationships with travelling communities across Somerset and have started building them in Devon.

By working closely with these communities, we can share vital fire safety advice, build trust and help ensure that people who have historically been harder to reach have access to the information and support they need to stay safe.

We were delighted to welcome two local Romany Gypsy community members Sophie and Sarah to join us for Wednesday’s flag-raising ceremony.

It's been another warm and dry week, with lots of people taking advantage of the sun to spend time outside.

To help us better understand how you use and enjoy your outdoor spaces, please take a couple of minutes to fill in our garden safety survey at https://online1.snapsurveys.com/Interview/f38190b3-8c2d-4f70-a570-5b09b47950d8

The answers will shape future safety advice and community support around real experiences.

With the weather looking hot and dry this bank holiday weekend, many of us will be spending more time enjoying our gardens, balconies, patios, and outdoor spaces ☀️

During the warmer months, we also see an increase in outdoor-related incidents - especially during evenings and weekends when people are socialising and relaxing outside.

We’ve launched a short community survey to better understand how you use and enjoy your outdoor spaces, so we can shape future safety advice and community support around real experiences.

We’d love to hear from you.

Please take a few minutes to complete our survey - link in the comments below 👇🏻
