Most people miss this great house but is a lovely historical building near exe bridges and stepcote hill/house that moved

Tiddy House is something of an enigma, it’s unknown when it was built exactly but English Heritage date it to the late 16th Century.
"Tiddy" is believed to be derived from the Old English word "tigian," meaning "to prosper." The four-storey timber framed property began as a merchant's residence and marries a various blend of styles that have evolved over the centuries.

Happy Sidwella Day!!! (31july-1st aug) Sidwella is the only saint of Exeter who lived in Exeter around 740 A.D. She lived within the walls of the city and she was repeported to be beautiful and virtuous. Her father Benna who was very rich -died and left all his fortune to his daughter, But her evil stepmother was very jealous and arranged for a reaper to do the evil deed when she came out of the field one morning he cut her head off with his scythe. She fell and miraculously a spring of water appeared -this was made into a well and is currently near the corner of Wells Street and York Road and the well is still visible today. The townspeople buried Sidwella at St Sidwells church ( now the community centre) It was said that for the next three nights the spot where she was killed was illuminated by heavenly shaft of light and on the fourth night she was seen walking in the fields with her head miraculously reattach to her body. it was agreed by the townspeople and vowed to keep her memory alive through a celebration once a year on St Sidwella day which is around 31st July /1st August

Looking forward to events next Saturday. The annual celebration of Sidwella’s Day is being held at St Sidwells community centre and also there will be an independent market in the cathedral close as well. So lots to come and see and do in Exeter city centre next weekend.
