We have been experiencing a high number of calls following the heavy rain in Devon and Somerset earlier today, with more rain expected to sweep across the area this evening.

Water levels are likely to keep rising, with roads becoming flooded. Please do not drive through floodwater, especially where warning signs have been put in place.

Just 30cm of flowing water can make a vehicle stuck or even sweep it away.

We're holding an open day at our headquarters near Exeter on Saturday 1 September.

There will be lots of emergency services vehicles with demonstrations throughout the day.

We will also be fundraising with lots of fun and games including a coconut shy, adults and children's tombola , skittles, bouncy castle, splat the rat, face painting, tin can alley, raffle, BBQ, refreshments and much more...

Don’t forget to get the firefighters wet in the stocks!

🚨 Incident - RTC M5 🚨

We wanted to express our thanks to all of the members of the public who assisted us at a road traffic collision on the M5 motorway this afternoon.

Crews from Green Watch Danes Castle were already on the southbound carriageway following a previous incident when the accident occurred a short distance in-front of us.

Thank you also to crews from Middlemoor, Cullompton & Tiverton who backed us up as well as the police, ambulance and air ambulance crews who very quickly attended the scene.

We wish all of the people involved a full and speedy recovery.

On Thursday 29th February we said goodbye to a Red watch legend FF Nigel Isaac who has retired after 34 years service. Nigel joined Okehampton fire station in 1990 before joining the whole time service in 1994.
He transferred to Danes Castle in 2005 and became our lead Aerial Ladder Platform instructor.

We will all miss Nige’s unflappable nature and quick one line wit. We all wish him the very best for the future.

🚨 Incident 🚨

Fire - Commercial / Industrial.

3 Crews from Green Watch Danes Castle, the on-call section and Middlemoor Fire Station were mobilised to a commercial building on fire in Water Lane, Exeter.

Due to the size of the flames that were visible from Exe Bridges while crews were on route, the Incident Commander made up for additional resources.

Despite being faced with a significant fire, the building was saved with a total of 8 pumping appliances, 1 Aerial Ladder Platform and the Drone Unit.

This was a derelict building and nobody was injured.

Thank you to all of the supporting crews who attended and of course Fire Control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
