🚨 URGENT WARNING 🚨

Following on from the previous post, we thought it best to share some important support.

Here is a guide for parents and a message for children to help navigate these risks.

🔒 Why "Public" is No Longer Safe

In the past, the risk of a public account was limited to who could see your photos. Today, tools like "Generative AI" and "Nudify" apps allow predators to take a normal, innocent photo of an adult or child and transform it into explicit, non-consensual material in seconds.

🚨 The "Lock Down" Checklist:

Set to Private: Ensure all social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) are set to "Private." This prevents strangers from harvesting photos for AI training or manipulation.

🚨 Audit Your Followers: If you don't know them in real life, they shouldn't have access to your life. Period.

🚨 Disable "Allow Downloads": Many platforms have settings to prevent others from saving or downloading your videos and images.

🚨 The "School Uniform" Rule: Never post photos that show school logos, house numbers, or street signs. Predators use these to find your physical location.

🛡️ A Message to Share with Your Children

💭 Parents: Use this script to start the conversation.

"Hey, I want to talk to you about the pictures you post or send to friends. Did you know that once a photo is sent, you lose control of it forever?

There are computer programs now that can take a totally normal photo of you-even one where you’re just smiling-and change it to look like you’re doing something you never did. It’s like a 'fake' version of you that can be used to be mean or hurtful.

🛡️ The Golden Rule: Never, ever send a photo to someone you haven't met in person. Even if they seem nice or say they are your age, they might be using a fake profile. If anyone-even a friend-ever asks you for a photo that makes you feel 'weird' or uncomfortable, tell me right away. You won't be in trouble; I’m here to protect you."

🛑 What to do if images are misused
If you or your child are targeted by AI-generated abuse:

🚧 Do not delete the evidence:

Take screenshots of the account and the messages (but do not save indecent images of children to your own device!). (This content is ILLEGAL).

🚧 Report it: Use the platform’s reporting tools and contact the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) or CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection).

⚠️ Use "Report + Remove": Tools like the NCMEC’s Take It Down service can help remove explicit images of minors from the internet.

🚨🚨 CHATHOUR 🚨🚨

⚠️ ATTENTION PARENTS & CARERS: Protecting Your Child in the ChatHour App ⚠️

As part of our commitment at South West Predator Hunters to keeping children safe online in the UK, we are highlighting the specific risks associated with the social chat platform ChatHour.

While ChatHour markets itself as a place to meet new friends, it functions as an open social platform in 2026, which introduces serious risks for minors and vulnerable individuals.

🚩 THE KEY RISKS IN CHATHOUR:

⚠️ ** strangers in Chatrooms:** The app relies heavily on public chatrooms where children can be targeted by strangers. Without strict filtering, they are exposed to unmoderated content and conversations.

⚠️ Predatory 'Grooming' via private messages: Predators use ChatHour's open environment to initiate one-on-one private messages with children, building trust to exploit them later.

⚠️ Location-Based Targeting: Some functions expose generic location proximity, allowing strangers to target users in a specific geographic area.

⚠️ Exposure to Explicit Media: Unlike fully closed messaging apps, ChatHour’s shared spaces frequently contain explicit or graphic media that can harm children.

🛡️ TOP SAFETY SETTINGS TO ACTIVATE IMMEDIATELY:

Most apps in 2026 require you to manually tighten security.

These steps are essential for ChatHour:

🛡️ Configure Direct Messaging (DM):
Go to Settings > Privacy. Change who can send you messages from "Anyone" to "Mutual Friends Only" or "Block." (The default is often open).

🛡️ Enable Explicit Content Filtering:
Go to Settings > Content. Turn ON "Sensitive Content Filter" for discoverable content, stories, and chat previews.

🛡️ Mute/Block Location Services:
In system settings (or sometimes in the app's location settings), disable location permissions for the app entirely to prevent location-based targeting.

🛡️ Restrict Profile Visibility:
Make the account private, so only approved users can see the profile content.

🛑 OUR RECOMMENDATION

Because ChatHour is primarily designed for random social connections and lacks rigorous age verification for chatroom access, we strongly recommend that children under 17 do not use it.

There are no parental control dashboards inside this platform.

If your child insists on using similar features, steer them toward safer, moderated platforms like LEGO Life or supervised Minecraft Realms.

JAILED | A ra**st who tried to intimidate his victim into withdrawing from the investigation has been jailed for 23 years.

Daniel Rowe, 35, formerly of Tiverton and Exeter, appeared at Exeter Crown Court for sentence on Friday 16 January, after previously being found guilty by a jury of three counts of r**e.

During the trial, the court heard how the victim in the case disclosed to officers several r**es committed against her by Rowe.

She described being terrified of Rowe and scared he would hurt her if she fought back.

The victim provided messages to officers showing Rowe apologising after one such attack.

After the offences were reported, Rowe contacted his victim and made attempts to pressurise her to withdraw her statement. He also made threats that he would get others to terrorise her.

In interview, Rowe claimed that s*xual activity between the two was consensual.

Officer in the case, DC Josh Marks said: “We welcome the sentence given to Daniel Rowe following his conviction for what is an extremely troubling set of s*xual offences.

“Daniel Rowe is a dangerous and violent s*x offender who showed no regard for his victim who he controlled through fear.

“I would like to praise the strength of the victim and thank her for remaining engaged throughout proceedings.

“I hope she now feels some closure and is able to move on with her life knowing Rowe will remain behind bars for many years.”
