🚨 URGENT WARNING 🚨
Following on from the previous post, we thought it best to share some important support.
Here is a guide for parents and a message for children to help navigate these risks.
🔒 Why "Public" is No Longer Safe
In the past, the risk of a public account was limited to who could see your photos. Today, tools like "Generative AI" and "Nudify" apps allow predators to take a normal, innocent photo of an adult or child and transform it into explicit, non-consensual material in seconds.
🚨 The "Lock Down" Checklist:
Set to Private: Ensure all social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) are set to "Private." This prevents strangers from harvesting photos for AI training or manipulation.
🚨 Audit Your Followers: If you don't know them in real life, they shouldn't have access to your life. Period.
🚨 Disable "Allow Downloads": Many platforms have settings to prevent others from saving or downloading your videos and images.
🚨 The "School Uniform" Rule: Never post photos that show school logos, house numbers, or street signs. Predators use these to find your physical location.
🛡️ A Message to Share with Your Children
💭 Parents: Use this script to start the conversation.
"Hey, I want to talk to you about the pictures you post or send to friends. Did you know that once a photo is sent, you lose control of it forever?
There are computer programs now that can take a totally normal photo of you-even one where you’re just smiling-and change it to look like you’re doing something you never did. It’s like a 'fake' version of you that can be used to be mean or hurtful.
🛡️ The Golden Rule: Never, ever send a photo to someone you haven't met in person. Even if they seem nice or say they are your age, they might be using a fake profile. If anyone-even a friend-ever asks you for a photo that makes you feel 'weird' or uncomfortable, tell me right away. You won't be in trouble; I’m here to protect you."
🛑 What to do if images are misused
If you or your child are targeted by AI-generated abuse:
🚧 Do not delete the evidence:
Take screenshots of the account and the messages (but do not save indecent images of children to your own device!). (This content is ILLEGAL).
🚧 Report it: Use the platform’s reporting tools and contact the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) or CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection).
⚠️ Use "Report + Remove": Tools like the NCMEC’s Take It Down service can help remove explicit images of minors from the internet.
