Follow Witch and her friends through the forest on our Room on the Broom trail, with activities and spells to discover along the way. 🧙‍♀️🧹

The weekend klaxon has sounded 🚨 Come and join us for a fantastic sunny weekend here in the forest 🌲

🌳We have lots on offer

🚵Get the adrenalin pumping on one of our mountain bike trails. No bike? No problem the team at can help you with bike hire.

🎀Bring the little ones and join Witch and friends on a magical forest adventure on our Room on the Broom trail. Trail packs £4 from the visitor info pod.

🌲Fly through the trees with Go Ape Haldon on their high ropes course.

🏃‍♀️ Enjoy a friendly 5k your way at parkrun on Saturday morning at 9am, run, jog or walk it's up to you

Our hearts go out to our friends at New Forest - Forestry England who have been clearing up and assessing the damage of a fire which destroyed an area of over 100 hectares!

Large sections of heathland has been burnt removing all vegetation including heathers, gorse and pillwort, a rare plant found in the New Forest.

A significant number of ancient beech and oak trees which have been standing on the site for hundreds of years have also been destroyed as the fire penetrated their root systems.

A considerable number of wildlife had sadly been destroyed however the team were able to carry out rescues and relocate surviving species to nearby areas of the Forest.

Please remember fires and BBQs are not permitted on any Forestry England land unless stated otherwise. By following this rule you are helping to care and look after these special places!

For now our thoughts are with the New Forest Team as they navigate restoring the land 💚

Enjoy Haldon Forest Park responsibly 🌳

Whether you’re walking, cycling or simply taking in the fresh air, spending time in the Forest is good for us all. By following the Forest Code you can help protect this special place for wildlife and for other visitors too:

💚 Keep to waymarked trails where possible
🐶 Keep dogs under close control
🔥 Guard against all risks of fire by not lighting campfires or BBQs and making sure any ci******es are put out and disposed of properly
🚲 Be mindful of cyclists, walkers and horse riders
🗑 Take your litter home
🦋 Make sure that all plants and animals are left undisturbed

This mysterious and elusive bird is the nightjar.

A summer visitor, nightjars arrive from Africa in April and May, spending a few months here before heading south again in September.

Nocturnal by nature, they spend their nights hunting on the wing, using their wide mouths and silent flight to catch moths, flies and beetles.
You’re most likely to notice them by sound. On a warm summer evening, listen out for their distinctive “churring” call carrying across the forest.
Nightjars are ground-nesting birds, laying their eggs directly on open, sandy or brash-covered ground. Recently clear-felled areas can be so important for them, they create the open habitats nightjars need to breed successfully.

If you're out exploring, please take extra care to watch where you step and keep dogs under close control.

We've finally had a spot of rain, but the ground and vegetation remain incredibly dry after such a long dry spell. Remember, never light a BBQ, fire, or stove in the forest. Bring your favourite picnic snacks instead, and help us keep the countryside safe 🤗
